What are the signs a parent figure is toxic (or just not a nice person in general) to an adult son or daughter?

1) lack of support, whether it be emotional, public, etc.
2) humiliation in front of their friends
3) preference of friends in their presence
4) "maneuvering" that puts them in a place to benefit from them, whether it be financial, legal, etc.
how do i know? ex tried doing all of this to/with our son.
