Should I be concerned about my mom? Is she going insane?

Today my mom went grocery shopping and spent almost $300. She says there’s no way she spent that much and that the cashier must of overcharged her (tbh I think my mom just doesn’t understand that $300 of groceries doesn’t go as far as it used to, cause it looked like $300 worth of food to me 🤷‍♂️) they also never gave her the receipt apparently, so I told her I can go to the store and see if they can pull it up for her.

It’s 2:30 am and she just called me saying the cashier from the store pulled in front of her house asking if she lived there. She said she stole her money and now she’s “out to get her.” she told me not to bother going to the store for her anymore because she’s scared of her.

um…. should I be concerned that my mom is losing her mind or…💀
My mom has always been a bit of a paranoid person but i have no words right now…I’ve never heard her say something so ridiculous and Im genuinely shocked.

she even talked about buying a gun to protect herself like wtf are you talking about? 😭😭😭

I got her receipt for her and proved that she wasn’t overcharged and now she feels better and understands that the person she saw “follow” her was someone else and it was a misunderstanding

kinda weird your willing to go into disbelief like that. this stuff happens a lot actually statistically speaking its rare but any cashier can come to your home threaten you and steal money from you while you pay for stuff.
I've had to fire people in my old job as a manager at walmart when I caught them double scanning things.

I mean a cashier stealing money from someone can be understandable, but the idea that they immediately got off their shift and followed her home as soon as she left doesn’t make any sense.
She wouldn’t be able to just leave and follow her as soon as she cashed her out. She would have to cash out her drawer and stuff.

That is reasonable but you doubting your mother immediately based on that alone is unreasonable.
People have robbed stores with phones in their pockets pretending they had guns.

A 12 year old walked into a store and robbed it with a pistol.

a kid beat up his grandmother for KFC after stealing her car to go on a joy ride.

girls have robbed a bank and posted about it on social media bragging.
