How long does it take you to become friends with someone?

I have very few "friends". I know a lot of people, but I don't consider them friends. Acquaintances are not friends.

Apart from being an introvert, I'm actually really good at striking up conversations with people I don't know and introducing myself. I maybe be an introvert, but I don't lack in confidence. My only thing is that I prefer to keep small company of very few people that are very trustworthy over a massive group of people that I can have fun with but cannot rely on.

It usually takes longer for me to consider someone a friend. They may consider me a friend before I consider them. It doesn't mean I'm cold and nonresponsive, but I'm not as available as they may like. For my friends, I'm very loyal. Today I just went out to support 2 of my homies for a tough final, even though my exams finished yesterday. Of course I wouldn't do that if I didn't think they would do the same, but they again they probably won't be my friends. I think you get the point. It's either through and through, or not. I don't half-ass shit, and don't call acquaintances my friends.

It really depends on the person and how well I get along with them from the start. If their personality mixed well with mine, I could become friends pretty quick.

On the other hand, if they are perhaps quiet and not very outgoing then it could take a while to really get to know them.

Much also depends on where I met them and how we connected. For example, if I met someone randomly, I’ll be a lot more guarded until I get to know who they are and their intentions.

Might be totally different if I met them at some sort of activity club, work or school. Chances are there that I will be more comfortable because we already share something in common. So, there are a lot of factors.

Most important though is if my personality and their personality work well together. That is a good sign that I could become friends pretty quick.

Sometimes, within a month … I believe friendships have to be built slowly but surely.. fast friends sometimes are that, fast lasting 🤣

For me, it takes several years, perhaps a decade until I can call someone a friend.

Most of the people I know are acquaintances because I did not get the opportunity to get to know them well enough to trust them with my life. A friend for me is someone that I can fully trust and it takes more than just a few conversations with that person.

You may think that you know a person well enough until something happens that make you reconsider the entire problem. I can honestly say that I have one true friend because I have known that person since my earliest childhood.

A few months. I am very good at reading people no matter if u speak English or not! I grew up w/a narcissistic mother and emotional abuse was prominent. I learned how to read body language very well at a young age.

It depends, usually 2-5 days if they like me as a person, and maybe 6-8 months, if the admiration is moderate.

It depends but it's mostly a few months give or take, but a year or more to be considered a best friend.
