I am getting mocked daily over getting detained in an Italian, got Hancuffed & Gagged over poor food?

A couple of weeks ago like I have previously posted I went for an Italian with my frined and was delivered a poor service of food. We were delivered a obnoxious waitress, and after food was ordered Lamb steak and Lasagne the food was poor so it was sent back via the waitress to which she decided to ell me and my friend how the food should or should not be. We decided to get up and leave at which point the waitress told us both we couldnt and mocked my tan so I threw a cup of Pepsi over her at which point security and a off duty officer intervened, I was hancuffed and made to wait for authorities and whilst sitting at the entrance waiting *still furious* I see my friend paying and the waitress looking over laughing and smiling in my direction to which I then decided to tell her some home truths and let customers know the kind of establishment they were dealing with and which point secuirty placed a piece of white duct tape on my mouth and half the resturaunt started clapping and cheering I was made to wait this way for half an hour!

Its been over 2 weeks now and I am still getting daily jokes about either being throwing a drink or being "gagged" which is the main one im getting silly jokes about and I dont get the hilarity!

So you are 22 years old and perhaps you are still learning, so here are the mportant lessons from this experience:

1. There are right ways and wrong ways to resolve disputes, and each alternative has a range of potential consequences.

2. Your self-righteous indignation doesn't mean anything to anyone else. Your constant anger won't convince others that you were in the right and the restaurant staff were in the wrong. Most people are smart enough to see through all of your bluster, make their own decisions, and judge you accordingly.

3. I have not yet even once heard you acknowledge that you did anything wrong or that it was your own behavior that led to this series of events. Your stubborn denial just makes people think even less of you.

4. So far, nothing about this situation has benefitted you in any way. Your tricks and tactics have failed. Perhaps you need to rethink your defensiveness and your wall of denial and consider adopting a different approach when you make mistakes.

Actually my lawyer, my friend and the majority of those with a consience acknoeldge a small argument does NOT require the need for detainment.

They say the way you treat service workers says a lot about your character. Throwing a beverage was childish and assault technically speaking.

You need to get your behavior under control, have you considered therapy?

In any case you should be ashamed of yourself rather than confused.

You could have actually done some damage without making a joke out of yourself by leaving a bad review and getting on with your life.

Actually I happily give advice in my spare time to people so no I dont believe I then needing "advice" and "Ashamed" for what exactly? Being called a name and throwing a little soda in her direction? She also pushed me, so Im feeling a little double standards coming on here!

I think there may have been a post on this event or one very similar a while back. The broad details were the same with an off duty cop etc etc.

There is no doubt some lower level restaurants can be quite uppity in attitude and lecture on how food should be cooked. Better quality restaurants will accommodate your preferences. It was reasonable to ask them to cook to your taste and to send back to the kitchen.

However I don't think you handled it at all well from that point. Throwing Pepsi over the waitress/grill was technically assault even if it was just a liquid that was thrown and I expect that is why the off duty cop considered it valid for him to intervene.

It was very ill advised to tell some home truths and offer to spit. You had already been proactive with the Pepsi, so though you may have meant it as a turn of phrase they could easily take it as a statement of intent.

I do think you should accept the judgement of your fellow patrons that you were other the top in what you did and you need to take responsibility. It seems a court thought you were in the wrong also.

Did the waitress refuse to remedy? Lasagna is always pre-prepared. Was it cold? Was the lamb uncooked/raw? You should give a restaurant an opportunity to fix cooking errors rather than storming out. If the lippy waitress wouldn't rectify then ask for the maitre de or chef and politely point out the food is inedible as served.

In that case I would decline to pay without making a scene. The duct tape and handcuffs should not have happened in my view but I do think you should learn from this experience.

Nothing to learn, the customer has every right to refuse a service. I was no more guilty than the other party. Fact!

Her words do not justify you throwing anything at her. It doesn't matter wheteher you threw Pepsi or a brick, it is a battery and a misdemeanor. You committed a crime and you are furious because you muspay the price? It seems that the judge was too lenient with you. Next time, you will spend some time in jail.

You crossed the line and got busted for it. Accept the consequences and move on. I've been arrested a bunch of times. Not once have I complained about it. I broke the law. I knew what I was getting into. I knew I'd get arrested if I got caught, and I did it anyway. There is nothing to complain about.
