I've never seen my brother breaking down in tears, how to cheer him up?

He's 32 years old, has been trying to unsuccessfully conceive with his wife (she's 28) for 3 years. They both got tested and meanwhile his wife is very fertile and normal, his exam showed he has cystic fibrosis, preventing his sperm to mix with the semen; a genetic mutation. It's most likely he's been that way since birth. The doctor said it's unlikely he can ever have kids of his own.

Needless the news made him literally break down in tears. He's having a very hard time processing it all, feels it isn't fair, that it's one of the worst news ever and that his choice has been robbed. Any way I can help him or cheer him up? I've never seen him like that before.

That's tragic for him... There's always adoption and Society has to fill the gap with the potential increase in Adoption opportunities. That's probably two year out consideration... two years to process too.

Yes it's only been a couple days since receiving that news and he's still processing it. Adoption is one way but I think his wife wants to try IVF (in-vitro fertilization).

Now is time for him to stop feeling sorry for himself and get some balls his wife is in this too not just him and now is time to think of adoption there are so many kids that need a parent to love them get off his pity party and move on

just being there... so he knows you CARE will help, sadly there is nothing anyone can do. He should think about other options (sperm donations from brothers, cousins, father) all mixed together so no one knows for sure who the "Bio-dad" really is
