I do and I’ve lost both dogs and cats but I only get emotionally and mentally fucked up after losing a cat. The first cat I had died a week after I started 7th grade and I fell into depression as she was my only friend at the time really. I then lost my 2 year old cat back in June and he was my rock being up there with my boyfriend. He was a velcro cat but I didn’t actively try to be in his face all the time as he wasn’t my cat at first yet he would always follow me around as he didn’t like hectic areas where there was a lot of movement and if there was he was okay as long as I was in the room. I was calm when he was around and I didn’t feel anxious or anything but ever since he died I’ve been more irritable and less motivated than I was. I have his brother left but he’s not as calm or quiet.

They are but cats are life to me, I’ve had strays come up to me for pets and even had other’s cats act completely different when I’m around.

Of course. It's been some months since my bunny died but I do think about him. I unconsciously look to his spot when coming downstairs cause I would always greet him. I remember he used to dig the sofa and sniff my slippers. He loved to be petted whenever I stopped petting him he licked my hand to tell me to continue. And now I'm crying... I miss my baby

Hit by a car less than a week ago:

Do you mourn for your pets when they pass away?

My ex and I were always telling how incredible this cat was. She behaved as friendly as a dog.

Sadly my ex was very verbally abusive, and after 9 months of enduring her violent behavior I decided to leave her.

Four weeks later the cat, due to the stress my ex was having because of the breakup, run away during the night and was hit by a car.

My ex blamed me for the event. I'm sorry that such innocent being had to suffer such stupidity.

For sure. I had a cat for 19 years, just lost him in 2019. Still not really over it. My girlfriend always talks about getting dogs or cats once we can live together again, and I just can’t get enthused because I don’t want to set myself up for another future tragedy when they eventually die. Love having pets, but I’m not willing to lose them, so I’d rather just not have them in the first place.

My wife says no more pets. It is too sad when they get old and die I think it is good to take one from the shelter and give them a good home and all the mice they can catch

Of course!! My last 2 were like girlfriends to me! I'd be sitting alone on the top step of the front porch and someone inside would let her out and she'd run straight up to me from behind, shove her nose and then her entire head under my right arm, squeeze herself all the way through so my arm would be draped over her shoulders and then she'd PLOP her ass right down beside me as close as she could get and lean into me!! THAT'S love!! Murphy and Sam both did that! It's like Murphy was the reincarnation of Sammi.

When Sammi was put to sleep, I never knew it was being done because I was living with my girlfriend at the time and didn't hear about it `til days after it happened! I cried like a baby, once I found out!! Murphy was put to sleep right in front of me and I held her paw the entire time `til they said she was gone. I don't remember doing so but, I think I cried over her, too.

It was more so of we shared the same property than them being my actual pets. I felt saddened when Blue died but I dont care for animals enough to cry for them. But it does sadden me to hear them whimper or see them in pain/dying. I flip the channel during those sad animal commercials. They be doin too much with that Arms of an Angel music

I was a total basket case when my kitty cat that I had and loved for 13 years died from stomach cancer.

I had her buried in the pet cemetery. She had a little coffin with a pretty blanket and a little pillow for her head.

I felt like I had lost my daughter 😢

Indeed. They shared their life with you and if you don't mourn you didn't deserve them.

If you don't morn the passing of a relative, friend or pet then it means they weren't anything to you and that would be very sad.

It took 12 months after my dog died to consider a new pet because it seemed disloyal to replace him sooner.

Yes, it can be a very sad time. People often think it's weird to become that attached to a pet but in some cases I think it's easier to mourn the loss of a pet than a person, A pet rarely has any faults that you can attribute to his/her deliberate behavior and humans seem to just ask for it sometimes

Me and animals aren't very close. Most household pets, I'm allergic to. I tend to view most others as either food, pests, or something to be left alone.

I do feel sad if my plants die, and even sadder if my electronics go kaput.
