Am I being taken advantage of?

I had just gotten a call from my aunt asking me to loan her son $5 for his lyft ride. I know $5 is nothing to some people but I felt a little odd doing that. In the past I’ve overheard him get angry on the phone with his mother about needing more money so that he could purchase some weed and pay off one of his bills. That didn’t settle right with me cause it made me think his priorities are not right.

But since we’re family, I don’t see the big deal in helping them out, but I’m afraid that I might become the only one they can rely on for money and take advantage of my kindness. This is the first time they’ve asked me for money, but not the first time they’ve asked me for favors (mainly transportation wise).

But 1 time should be okay, right?

Yep if they ask again you check em, you tell them that they gotta fix their problem or whatnot, it would hint that they can't comfortably keep asking you for money

I would definitely be looking for trends but I do t know when and how you stop it down the road🤷🏻‍♂️
