How naive were my parents?

When my baby brother was still in HS, he was getting bullied. A year before the pandemic started (during the summer vacation), my parents were so desperate they really thought enrolling him in Taekwondo for 2-3 months would help my brother with all his confidence and he would beat up his bullies. They thought he would be a totally different person. They did this against my brother's will; he never liked martial arts. He hated it.

This obviously didn't work. One of the bullies (whom pretended to be his friend in our presence) was advanced in better martial arts. No one was impressed, he didn't beat up anyone, he still got bullied and he didn't change his personally. No changes were made in that short time and my brother didn't learn any realistic self-defense techniques.

Was that really naive for my parents? They didn't even search the martial arts. I kept telling them Judo or Krav Maga is better but they didn't listen. They went to whatever they found was cool. All he ever learn was stretching the legs and some basic kicks. It was more like a class full of warm-ups/excercies.

Ironically, they push him into something he never wanted and they ignored what I wanted. I wanted martial arts for the longest and finally I'm doing what I like. I've been in Judo for 9-10 months by now. It's right at this time that both I'm told I've been improving more lately.
Unlike my brother, I do it for fun, to relieve stress and I want to learn more.
