If not, do you feel self-sufficient and like you can do this whole life thing alone?
Can you do this whole “life” thing on your own?

The idea that people should fend for themselves and be "independent" is a marketing tactic.
The idea is that you will buy loans, mortages, buildings, your own car, and have less financial power to compete in markets with your own startup, while being forced to work shit wages in laborer jobs to make a living.
People are FAR better off living with large families in one huge ass house (thats already paid off) that gets passed down generations (along with the furniture and appliances in it). all while running a family business.
Excellent point!! I completely agree
After 50 years in the world I know that I can't do it on my own. I have a few close friends I'd trust with my son's life, and since I'd take a bullet for him I figure that's enough.
We are social animals. We're not designed to be alone. The pandemic was worst for people who were isolated already. It put a distance between people emotionally. Zoom and Skype are useful tools, but not great for emotional connection. After I spent 3 months in a coma because of Covid the hardest part was the following three month period while I recovered physically but wasn't allowed visitors because of lockdown rules. Even when things were eased back and my family were finally able to come to the hospital visits were in designated rooms that were sterilised between use with a plastic screen between us. No touching. Try explaining that to a two year old that wants to sit on daddy's knee.
Nobody is designed to be alone in the long term
