People who are able to live alone, but still want live with their parents, why?

Culture. Trying to save for a house. I lived with my grandfather till I was 19 despite having a business that was earning me enough to live on my own. I did pay the property tax and utilities, which were minimal due to solar panels galore and Prop 13. If he were still alive, I'd still be living here with him instead of alone with my two Shepherds and their pet cat. I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted and my expenses were no more than they are now, so why go and pay far more for less?
