What would you do if the only stress you had in a relationship was their child?

My boyfriends son is a difficult child, young, around kindergarten, and threatening to kill people and hitting teachers, which caused cps to get involved. I'm concerned for him as to why he's doing this and concerned for my future with my Boyfriend, will his son affect my children? Is it his parenting style? Any advice?

The boy is perhaps unhappy to now share his Dad with you. He seeks attention (to signal his discomfort), and gets it by ''breaking the rules''.

What I'd try myself: let him see that you're not a competition, but a positive addition; re-assure him about his ''status'' in the family, and establish yours.

I see no need to fill the place of the 'missing' parent, but offering buddy-ship and being interested in each other's activities and needs will create the bond that's required for a functional ''family''.

He's also at an age where kids try to test their boundaries/limits; they actually WANT guidance, and also someone who in the more severe cases will say: ''stop that now''.

It's best done in a team effort (together with your man) and in a way that the boy feels included.

Could be a phase he is going through, they eventually grow out of it, my brother had the same problem with his wife’s child but he totally changed as he got older
