What would you do if you were the parents of the kids in this situation?

The parent of a 20 year old guy is moving in to their partner's place. Their partner has a daughter that's 22 years old.

Before they even move in fully, the son sexually harasses the daughter of their partner by asking if they can fuck them. They do not take no for an answer and press the question continuously. Every time they are in the daughter's presence, they are extremely inappropriate.

If you were the parent of either the son or the daughter, what would be your course of action in this scenario? Describe what you would do in each parent's scenario.

If it were my son, I'll kill him. I'm sort of kidding...

If it were my son, I'd tell him that he is no longer welcome to live with me. I'd give him until I had completed moving in to get out. If necessary, I'd file a restraining order against him. God forbid my son ever grows up to be such a boundaryless jerk.

If it were my daughter, I would not allow my partner to move in until they had resolved the situation satisfactorily with their son. I would also look into other living situations for my daughter to get her on her own two feet. I would consider breaking off the relationship for the safety of my daughter and grandchildren.

This is a serious issue. It's not like he joked around once and let it go. He will assault the daughter; it's only a matter of time and opportunity.

He's old enough to live on his own. Even if he's my son I'd support the daughter of my partner in this if I'm moving in with her and her dad. I'd still have a relationship with my son (and words) but until he can show respect I'd see him separate from my partner and daughter.

I'd tell him to stop watching pornhub and getting the wrong ideas about how to behave with women. If you're not aware, "step family" porn is very common these days, and this is almost certainly where he got the idea. That being said, if she were interested I wouldn't think there was anything wrong with it, since they were fairly old when they met and not genetically related (I know most people would still consider it taboo but I think that's arbitrary), but it seems she's not, so he needs to lay off it.

I would tell the son that he has 72 hours to find another place to live and move out, or he will be evicted from the premises and not welcomes back. That should be a zero tolerance situation, no excuses entertained.

I would try to talk it out first. Then have the son move out of the house if he can't take no for an answer and remain respectful.


Here in Finland, rarely anyone above 20 live with their parents!
