If men are visual creatures, how is it possible for him to still love his aging wife?

My grandparents for instance is an example of old-fashioned love. Grandma is only 3 months older than him. When they met, she was 18 and he was still 17.

Now they're both now 68 year-olds and still together. To him, she's still his beautiful wife. Obviously both have aged and she's obviously lost not young nor fertile anymore.

If men are visual creatures and find us the most attractive between 18-24 years old, how can a man still find his aging wife beautiful? Can he still be attracted to his elder wife?

Oxytocin Vs. Vasopressin argument. The love hormones for the female is more like an opiate high and easy to break where as the male love hormone takes a lot of time to form and is really strong if it forms. I think the female can gain that sort of loyalty and then see her looks drop off a cliff, but maintain that loyalty. His loyalty isn't going to also fall off a cliff... basically. Now if she was just a side chick then he would probably give her the boot as soon as she sounded annoying. Just the way us dudes work.

Men AND women are both visual.

Initial attraction matters because that is what gets someone interested to begin with before they know their personality and other traits that keep someone interested. Physical appearance matters much more in the beginning, but personality, shared beliefs, and compatible life goals is what keeps people together long term and happy.

And when people are highly compatible for personality, morals, etc. it can actually increase the physical attraction over time too.

I understand what you are saying but sadly once you hit 60/70s not only you love your age range but you also know no one cares about an old person anymore sad but true
If you see it happening it’s always because the old men or women is very rich that’s all

Because they have so many life experiences together, why would your grandpa throw those 68 years away for a generation of women he probably wouldn’t enjoy mentally?

It is because we still see the beauty in the person we married years ago. We've been with them so many years and made a lot of memories together.

Plus, as you get older your eyesight gets worse, everything looks fuzzy. Lmao 🤣 🤣
