Are men capable of loving a woman?

I want to start off by saying that this isn’t meant to be an offensive question, I genuinely want to know.

The more I’m watching and reading what men say about women/relationships, the more it doesn’t seem like men are capable of loving a woman. I recently heard that men keep their wives after their prime because men are “good people”. I would never say I’m staying married to my husband because I’m a good person. I’m staying with him because I love him and he’s my husband. So, if a woman loves you, takes care of you, potentially cares for your children, your home, etc., it’s not good enough? Now my fear is a man will leave me the second he finds someone more pretty/attractive/younger down the line. I don’t know if I want to date anymore, it scares me to know you’re not good enough, nor did a man genuinely love you in the first place.

You are being confused by different language. Your example asking a man why he is with his wife, you were expecting a "feelings" answer, because you are a woman, and your language for almost everything is feelings-based. Men don't work that way, and we don't speak or think that way by default. Rather, we think and speak in logical, practical terms by default.

That doesn't mean that we don't have feelings - we do - and if you asked that man if he loved his wife, he would tell you, but when you ask him why he is still with her, his brain doesn't go to feelings, but to logic. If you want a feelings answer, you have to ask for a feelings answer - in much the same way that if you want a logical, practical answer from a woman, you often have to specifically ask for that, or you'll only get a feelings answer.

It's similar to asking how far away a place is from you. It can be expressed in distance (45 miles) or in time (a 70 minute drive in average traffic). You are talking about the same place, but with two different perspectives. Someone who cares more about mileage will prefer one answer and someone who cares more about time will prefer the other.

Yes both men and women can fall into and out of love while married. Your fears are warranted but there are probably things that are happening here that you are unaware of. As people marry and live together, they either grow with one another or away from one another. And how one expresses and interprets love can be different and offsetting.

You don't love me... You don't respect me. those are the same things except love is girl and respect is boy. Exact same feeling whether confirmed or denied by partner. Things like underappreciated defined differently by both Parties. The list goes on and on. Even the best communicators experience up and downs. If ups/downs are too much for you then stay single !!

My understanding is that men fall in love more slowly than women but also fall out of it more slowly.

If you're good to him, then he'll probably stay. All the older men in my life have said that when they look at their wives, they still see that fun, sweet, pretty girl they married decades ago. The man has been "imprinted" at that point and won't leave unless she starts to treat him badly.

We all have the insecurity that our partner will leave us for someone else. With men in the West, it's even worse because of how the family and legal systems treat women vs. men in divorce. She can not only leave us, but completely ruin our lives in the process (financially and taking our children).

After having children, a man's likelihood of leaving his wife declines. So, there's that for consideration.

Yes. Many are. Some don't have it in them.

But I think this is true for women too.

The reality is that love takes work. Yes, there's the fuzzy warmth and the sparks and all the other stuff, but love takes effort and thought and investment and attention and nurturing and gritting your teeth. There are lots of men and women who are capable of that and some who either can't or aren't willing.

Was there ever a case of a relationship working out perfectly? Lots of them work. That means yes, they're possible.

This just shows me how easily you're influenced and discouraged by reading someone else's stories. You can find as many successful stories to read.

But I do not guarantee that you'll find a good guy for yourself.

Please don't judge all men by what you see on the internet. If I judged all women by the way some of them behave here, I wouldn't want to have anything to do with them. Get out amongst real people, face to face, you'll find that people who get out, opposed to staying home on the keyboard, think and act much differently. It's been proven that there's a marked difference.

For sure 😁 I love girls. I'd ask them how I can make them happy. But from what I was told by the few I shared a few moments together with "it's all good". Is it that easy?

I love my girl to pieces. If a hot model offered sex to me or gave me attention I'd tell them no, and believe me I have plenty of options. There are guys like that out there, trust me.
