Parents: Do your children sleep with u? If so, how did you transition them into their own bed?

I’ll be getting married soon and things will soon change because my finace and I are not currently living together. Obviously, we are planning to move in together right after so things are going to have to change. My 2 yo daughter has been sleeping in my bed for about a year now. Usually when my fiancé would spend the night or we go to his house, she’s usually playing with his kids and they all fall asleep in the living room. But now since things are going to change and we will all be living together, she’ll have to sleep in her own bed. I tried to practice having her sleep in her bed and she screamed and cried for hours. I finally gave in and let her back in my bed. I can’t do that once I’m married because I don’t want her to get used to it.

Any suggestions? If anyone has gone through something similar, please help.

With respect to @Emanon25 don't sleep with her in her bed or yours. You are the parent they are the child. Love her and put her in her bed. Let her cry and scream. Don't give in. She will figure it out. It will take a night or two but not will happen. Children are smart: they know when you'll give in and when you won't. If you don't give in she'll figure it out and deal with it. Here's the thing: do NOT make this about him sleeping in your bed. If you do, she will resent him forever. Make this about the truth: she is a big girl and big girls sleep in their own bed.
