Are you allowed to bring guests in your hotel room?

I'm visiting my friend in France, and I'm staying in a hotel because she lives with roommates. I was wondering if in general, is it okay if she stays with me in the room during the day (not spend the night)?

It depends hugely on the country, the hotel, and how long. If it if just during the day, almost certainly yes. If it's overnight is when hotels don't mind but will often charge you for it. In the U. S., usually it's for more than four people they'll start to charge you, but again, it's different for every hotel.

It is a huge risk especially if you are in a Sofitel. Cameras are everywhere as are face recognition. Be courteous, kind, and calm then things should be fine. YOu will know when your credit card bill comes whether there was an up-charge for Guest.

Even if the hotel says otherwise... in most cases, if you and your friend behave yourself, nobody will care.
