How best to handle office gossip about me?

Today, a colleague of mine told me to be careful as Im now a topic of gossip. I was angry cause he refuse to mention the people.

I suspect a guy & another lady who smile at me all the time but I heard they grudge about how they are older than me but my rank is higher than theirs. they also gossip that I have refused to get married. imagine.

I'm on the verge of confronting them. Will that be wise?

It’s difficult to confront without proof. That would make you the troublemaker. You can ask your next line supervisor about recommendations.

maybe in a meeting a “group evaluation” could take place so the management could reinforce why certain employees have the positions they have by their previous performance.

this sucks, I know. My bosses never cared about this so my solution was to excel until I was moved up and away from the bottom feeders. And no one ever had the satisfaction of hearing me complain.
