You ever get tired of people asking "were you close" when a loved one dies?

So my older cousin died from an aneurysm and crashed her car into a tree. People would ask "were you close?" I'm like not too close but we did see each other often. It just makes me mad like I can't grieve for her because we weren't joined at the hip. I cried, because it hit close to home and I feel bad for her daughter because she doesn't have her dad in her life and she's left with her only daughter and husband. Her mom's still living too so I felt worse for them.
