As a parent, you answer their questions honestly, in ways that they will understand. It usually starts very young, when your child sees a pregnant woman and wants to know why her belly is so big... "She's going to have a baby." As they get older, you can get more detailed, but don't overdo it.

We've always been open and honest with our kids. They can, and have asked us about sexual questions. They know that they can comfortably ask us anything and everything.

I would probably talk to them about mitosis and meiosis. If I ever have any kids. My parents never told me anything about sex; I had to learn it at school.
