The first priority is the baby getting fed; social niceties play second fiddle to that. But that goes both ways- if you do it uncovered in public, you're going to get people staring. It may be a question of "polite" or "impolite", but "right" and "wrong" don't really enter into it.

You should be able to breastfeed a baby, with no cover (or other attempts at modesty), anywhere, anytime, with anyone around. Its feeding a baby, there's nothing sexual about it. If people gaze or glance, so be it- it only serves to normalize breastfeeding in public.

I said only if there are no men around. Even though its a completely natural, there's always creeps/stalkers out there, that want to see boobs. I guess, if the mother doesn't care then it's fine with me, but I like to err on the side of caution.

People are trying to normalize nudity, teens fighting to wear revealing clothes to school and there are pride parades with so many sexual acts and sexual costumes. And with all that going on, I don't see what's wrong with a mother feeding her baby.

I don't have an opinion either way. I have always thought that a female was at her most beautiful when pregnant or breastfeeding her baby. Anybody that gets offended because they see a nipple really needs to get a life!
