Is 5'8 very tall for a Japanese-American woman?

One of my friends is 5'8 and looks 100% Japanese in features. Usually Japanese people aren't that tall.

Well her genes got mixed with certain tall, European folks too. Still is that very tall for a Japanese-American woman?

Yes. It is very tall for Japanese! If she is 5'8, one of her parents is not Japanese.

Yes her father isn't. He's a very tall white, American man with Dutch (her paternal grandfather was from Netherlands) and Irish blood. Yeah that explains it.

I am half-Japanese. My father is from the USA, but he has lived here since he was 5 years old. He is 6'2 ! I am only 5'4 though. I have other half-sisters who are 5'7 & 5'8. I guess I was passed over with the tall genes. 😓 I am still a slightly taller than the average full Japanese girls my age.

For a woman it's probably considered pretty tall but 5'8 is still not tall generally speaking.

True for a woman yes. Since she's bilingual (she also speaks Japanese), she feels so awkward every time she visits her mother's homecountry. She's Japanese in looks but a taller version. She feels so odd and different in Japan.

I was comparing to the average Japanese woman. She has visited Japan before and felt odd around her people. Even many of the men over there were slightly shorter than her

Yes, it is tall.

She's bilingual (also speaks Japanese) and has visited her mom's homecountry. She admitted to feel so different from others over there due to her height. She had big hands, size 10 shoes too.
