So 5'9 is tall for a Japanese woman?

Even though I was born in Tokyo, Japan my parents moved back to Maine, US when I was 10 months old. Obviously I have no memories of my homecountry.

I looked fully Japanese but several people still figured out I'm a mixed person. Someone said that a tall Japanese got the genes elsewhere. Well I got all my mother's physical traits but yeah our heights are different. She's 5'1 and I'm 5'9. She married my dad; a 6'4 Dutch American.

Same thing with my younger 19 year-old brother. From outside, he looks fully Japanese but he's my dad's exact height. So 5'9 is tall for a Japanese woman?

I look like my mother when she was younger but in a taller version.

I looked this up last summer when I was dating a tallish Japanese woman. (She's 169)
On average Japanese women are about 1 - 1.5 inches shorter than American women. So there is not a huge difference.

If you compare to white European ancestry women in the US, there is a little more difference.

yeah I think the height was the giveaway to people that I'm mixed. That's the only dominant gene I got from my dad's side of the family. Meanwhile my maternal grandmother and others are short; my dad's family are from Netherlands. In comparing to Japan, people in Netherlands are tall.

It tall even for US woman, and Asians tend to be short, you are almost as tall as me in fact.

5'9" is tall for an American woman, so I'd imagine it'd be tall for a Japanese one.

If I get a chance to one day visit my homecountry, I'll likely be seen as a giant over there. I just googled and yes the population is short. My dad's genes is the only way I got this height.

I was just briefly checking the average height there. For men it's 5'7 and for women is 5'2. Wow they're a lot shorter. I have a younger 19 year-old brother. He got my dad's exact height of 6'4 but physically looks fully Japanese.
