I have so many.
I grew up in an almost idyllic childhood setting during those formative toddler years. We lived in a cul-de-sac with like 7 other families with kids, all around the same age. The neighborhood was surrounded by a creek that we would play in all the time. In the summer, we'd go under the bridge that led out of the neighborhood to take limestones and doodle on the concrete, we'd find swimming holes, go crawdad hunting, find frog eggs and tadpoles, my mother would take us to a tree in our neighbor's yard and lift us up to look into the knothole to see the new nest of baby birds inside. In the spring, the neighbors would organize Easter egg hunts for everyone all throughout the wilderness of the neighborhood. On rainy days, my brother and I would dress up in bathing suits to play in puddles and so many other kids would join us just to splash in the rainwater as it went down the street. In the winter, we'd all get together to see if we could build the world's tallest snowman while our parents shared coffee and coco and watched us play. I would have so many sleepovers at my house, and then the next week we'd do the same down the street at their homes. We'd play games, tell ghost stories, share urban legends like they were truth, and freak out over the one kid that had a furby, of course. We put on plays, shared playgrounds, made pie from an apple tree that grew down the street that we would always climb on.
We all got really close, and though everyone eventually ended up moving out of that neighborhood to bigger and better things, but those memories are very precious to me and I've always held onto them.
