What is a mother figure?

A mother figure is a woman who gives you guidance and takes the role of a mother. The person usually "embodies the qualities of an idealized conception of a female parent".

My mother was not around much growing up, because she had to work (surgeon) and my grandmother was my maternal figure. She took care of me and gave me great advice. Anyone can be a mother figure, though. Even a teacher, friend or a mentor.

Hopefully someone who loves and supports their child no matter what choices they make, or what happens to them. Keeps them fed and healthy, educated. And on track.
