Is it weird if someone doesn't have best friend?

Not at all. I don't have one either, and haven't for years! Like since grade school. Why?

Like yourself I have a hard time trusting and opening up to people, mostly because when I have in the past, I got burned. That and people have a tendency to disappoint me, intentionally or unintentionally.

I do have friends and acquaintances, but I'm selective in what I tell them and the detail. As they open up to me and prove how trustworthy they are, I'll open up to them as well.

It's not weird. And no one thinks of this but the people without a best friend. People are not even all that trust worthy I've seen best friends stab eachother in the back... etc

A friend is a friend & there is nothing that says you have to have a best friend in the first place & to answer your question weird it is not.
