All of my dogs and cats have nicknames, but the horse doesn't.
For instance, I have a border collie who turns 15 tomorrow. We've had her for almost 15 years.
Our first border collie was MY first border collie and, once you've owned a border collie, you'll be creeped out at how smart they are. Anyway, I nicknamed him "Superpuppy" because of his intelligence and talent. But, when we got her in 2008, I couldn't nickname her "Superpuppy", so, since she was the baby of the family, she became "Superbaby". My next male border collie became "Superpuppy Junior" and next female border collie became "Superbaby Junior". Those last two nicknames didn't stick. The second male is more of a dumb jock and he has freckles on his belly, so he has the nickname of "Goofball" or "Goofball Q Frecklebelly". However, the second female (who is the half-niece of that male) is a genius! I swear, she's smarter than most Republicans. And, despite her tiny size, she rules my pack of 8 dogs with an iron paw. So, her nickname is "Dr. Evil" because she's a criminal mastermind. She is truly amazing.

In public? Hell no. I am not a fan of nicknames or pet names.
In private? Shit... thinking back to some pet-names I've had for girlfriends (behind closed doors) is making this black man blush. I have definitely always been a fan of pet names. Sometimes the same girlfriend would have several differernt pet-names I'd call her. I might even have written (and sung) multiple improvised pet-name songs. It's crazy what a guy will do in private with his girlfriend.
I will not tell you what those pet names were... because... no. With one exception, because remembering it made me laugh. And its not really a cutesy-pet name. But my one girlfriend was:
"Little Big Nerd" (Because she was tiny... but she was also a big nerd. So it fit). But then that got shortened to "LBN"; which then got shortened to "L (El?).' However, the song... used the long-version: "Little Big Nerd." And now that stupid song is stuck in my head. Its catchy.

Depends on the name. I like some. I LOVE giving them to others. Most my my good friends have a nickname. My sister and brother have several. Sometimes it takes ages, or sometimes one isn't as good and then I'll stumble upon one.
My brother has a new nickname he claims doesn't bother him, but eh. I switch between several, just in case.
I have several. Most don't last - for a while, I had "Yard Boy" because it was a joke (from an Easter egg from the You Don't Know Jack. If you swore at the host, he'd warn you. Then make fun of you. Then deduct points, change your name, etc. Yard Boy was the one I got, so the friends playing testing out this joke thought it was hilarious, and it stuck. I have a stage name, and one or two online names; most people use some variation of this as a nickname.Everyone called me 'skinny' inclusive my parents since I can remember. This stopped with 14 as being skinny started to be slender and presentable. However as kid this annoyed me, that's why avoid to use nicknames and don't encourage people to call me with nicknames either.
Not so much. I don't really like being called cutesy pet names. And the only girlfriend I had a pet name for was named Petra. I used to call her Peaches.
I've playfully called romantic partners things like pumpkin, muffin or sweet cakes on occasion.
My wife and I call each other babe quite a bit. I'll playfully call her other names once in a while, but I don't really have a nickname or pet name for her.Nicknames are okay especially for people with horrible first names. I knew a guy who was Sebastian and we called him Buster. Willis was Skipper and Ralph ws Mackie. It is nor cool if it is some mean thing kids say about somebody. In my neighborhood when I was growing up nobody's parents could afford to get them braces for their teeth. There was a kid who had badly crooked teeth and he was called Bucky Beaver.
Not for business or work. Unprofessional.
If its something my girlfriends and I came up with jokingly then I except that.
I don't let or like people trying to shorten my name or change it because they claim they can't pronounce my name. My stance is we do not have to like each other but yoh will call me by my birth name. That's usually an issue that only happens with men.
I've gotten that once from a woman.Yeah nicknames show that you’re getting closer to the person. This is bringing back some funny memories I had in middle school. Where my friends and I would call each other our moms names as nicknames.
Ellie is my nickname. I’ve been called Ellie my whole life, but it’s short for Elizabeth.
I have many nicknames. Some of them are used when my mom is in good mood. Many of them are used when my mom is in bad mood.
Now I am immune to all.😅for me it depends on the nickname🤔🤔 if it’s ‘val’ then yes i def like nicknames, if it’s ‘tina’ then nooooope🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️ hate nicknames!!😂😂
Apple, and sometimes my dad calls me 'Apulu' in a loving way when I achieve something good. That's how my user ID came.

I call my fiancée "Little Spoon" or "Xiǎo sháozi" (she is Chinese.) That's a great name for her and we usually go to sleep spooned together.
Not really a fan the only time I let it happen is during sex because it adds to the experience
I had a previous chick always refer to me as daddy in public and private. Other than that, i would never have someone address me by other nickname or pet names
I like nicknames and pet names... My nickname is Dagwood since I was a kid
