Is it wrong of me to ask a friend to borrow $400? I will be able to pay back on the same day?

Around 1998ish on a Friday, the New York Knicks just lost a big game by the score of 71-76.
I was really upset. The next day, Saturday, after the banks closed, I needed cash to run some errands.
I go to an ATM machine.
Machine rejects my card.
I was puzzled.
I went to another bank's ATM.
Machine rejects my card.
What's going on?
I go to another bank's ATM.
Machine EATS my card!

I knew I had enough money in the bank because I am cheap and didn't have a girlfriend.

So what's going on? !

Well my debit card PIN was 7167 but I was so obsessed with the Knicks' loss by the score of 76-71 that I kept putting in the losing score 7176. After so many tries, my bank sent out the order to eat the card.

So, it's a Saturday and I have no cash and no debit card to survive until I get a new card in a week or so. Banks were closed by this time so I couldn't even do that until Monday AM.

So, I contacted a friend of mine, explained the story, and she loaned me $100.00 which is all I asked for. She knew that I was good for it. She was an angel. I paid her back the moment I had access to my money.


My debit card pin was 7167,.

It's not wrong, just make sure it's important and be prepared for them to say no or ask why you need it.

What I'm not following here is if you can pay it back on the same day, why not wait until later in the day when you will get the money you need?
