Should I go out alone with my friend’s friend?

My friend has been ignoring me recently, she often does this as she says she’s disassociating from reality. But one of her close friends reached out to me and would like to hang out. Not like a date but just to meet and chat. I’d like to go with him but I’m overthinking it and I feel as though she’ll think I’m trying to steal her friend or something. She did this before with someone else so I don’t doubt she’ll think the same about me. She didn’t respond to my calls and texts since last month, so should I just go out with him without notifying her? Or text her again as a courtesy? Thanks!

Well, understand your motivations for seeing the guy. If your really sure its just friends, then understand how she might see your spending time with him and not inviting her. If you feel she has some 'position' towards the guy, you might let her know casually, preferably not by text (but not going out of your way to let her know either).

Letting her know, if your uncertain is good.

That all said, you've no reason to tell any firend anything unless you feel you want to or feel its somehow right to. She should understand that, as long as your not hiding it then just be you.
