For example, if your last name was Steven's, would you name your kid Steven
If your last name is a first name, would you give your child that name?

When I was in Utah, I noted that Mormons seem to enjoy alliterative names.

I won't go naming real people but for example it was quite common to have several people in a room have names like Mike Mackle, Steve Simmons, Megan Moore, Samantha Smith and Levi Larson.
I had a Mormon coworker confirm for me that it was a real thing.
You know, Steve Stevens is a great guitarist.
He's the guitarist on the classic Billy Idol song "Rebel Yell". Take a look at the short solo he does in the video.
I had a classmate who's name is Mike Michaels and he claims he hates his name because it sounds silly.
I feel like the parents who do that are unimaginative but I'm sure they have their valid reasons for doing so.
Mike Michaels disagrees and claims his parents were lazy.
My last name is my father's surname - with daughter added. I'm daughter of Olaf and no I will not be naming my child Ólafur.

Wasn't there a singer 10 years ago and his name was something like that. Philip Philips maybe? My initial reaction is to wonder why parents would do such a thing. Seems like you're setting them up to be mocked.
No I wouldn’t… when they’re little it could confuse them learning their name, not to mention the ridicule they’d get all their life…
No, but I have joked for many years that if I married Hayden Panettiere and she took my last name her name would be Hayden Hayden.
No. But my last name is Micucci and I named my daughter Sharon. She still blames me for all the teasing she took in school. And she doesn't believe me when I tell her I didn't know. That I never put it together what the full name sounded like.
Part of my last name is kinda and I’ve used it as an alias. I dont want my kids to have common names but common nicknames sure
I would not, you're just setting them up to be teased by other people.
I wouldn’t want them to have their first and last name be the same. People would tease for that.
Why no. My name is my name. It was given to me, and it will be given to my child.
Nah. That would seem like a prank.
Oh, holy God, NO!
Yea, it's their last name, not first ha
No that would be cruel
The hell no. I don't want my kis hating me
Probably not! haha That would be quite strange!
No way
Nothing new here.
