Queen Victoria is responsible for the Irish famine- it was entirely in her power to commandeer food shipments being sent out of the country; she'd've had to pay for them, but a clear state of emergency existed that would've allowed to defer those payments, at least partially.

In fairness, she DID donate two thousand pounds of her own money to help the hungry, but a more political solution could've saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of lives.

I think the queen can fire people whenever they want. I need to research this. Most brits don't know any of their atrocities and can hardly point to Ireland on a map.

No, the monarch's pretty restricted now, and was even back then (was since the Magna Carta, really); it wouldn't have been easy or popular. But it WOULD have been moral.

People think it was Charles Trevelyan who caused the famine, it was all of England. Robert Peel tried to help and was forced to resign from public pressure. Trevelyan was not in charge of the navy who stopped foreing countries giving us food and the Brits gave Trevalyan an award later on. Britain today is sorry though.

I know a Spanish man and he claims the English wreck Spain so he went to Ireland instead as their horrible people. They truly do. Also he is ashamed of their history. Thanks for the input.
