I'm going by my own experience of being fathered. Dad taught me how to change a tire, tune up a car, prepare for a hurricane, paint a house inside and out, nail weatherboards, minor plumbing and electrical work. How things work. How to dress up for a ball, that dancing is as important as an education. Be smart, but also be wise. Keep learning your whole life. Pick some sports you like. Garden. Love music. Tell a dirty joke. Have a sense of humor.

And good fathers support their wives in being good mothers. Parents are a team. If you can show your children that you two work together, you've been a successful couple. Breeds successful children. Tell him good luck!

Not really a quote, more an observation. Tell him something like happy father's day, the first one doesn't count, because you won't have enough sleep to remember it until the one next year lol.

Newborns don't stop waking up every couple hours until like 6 months along when they'll sleep through the night. Pretty much anything else he wouldn't find funny until a year or two down the line either.

That man is going to be a mess of nerves from new things to worry about, how much shit he has to get done, just keep it light. I almost shot the tenant I had kicked out when he came back just to do a donut because he woke my kid up, tense times indeed.

Hell, I shot a dog with a hunting rifle from my balcony because it kept waking my baby up. This was in the city. Two-four hours a sleep a night for months on end will remove all sanity and rationality from your decision making.

Like it is utter insanity to try to keep a block quiet around you, but I achieved it with tenacity and violence. Also so I could sleep during the day when there weren't contracts.

Maybe just offer him a spot to have a couple beers and nap out every now and then.

Congratulate him and then tell him to try being a more cool father, fuck all that discipline shit, be the first father who tells his kids they can just have a ball and do whatever they want. Don't tell them any shit at all. No, wear your slippers, lift the toilet seat, go to bed, eat all your veges... and on... and on... and on. When I was a kid I seriously thought Mums and Dads are these overgrown giants who are just around to terrorise us kids and give us a hard time for no good reason whatsoever. More strange is I nearly feel the same way today too.
