I teach young kids martial arts, and am the fun weed aunt to my niblings.

I do my best to teach them to be considerate where appropriate and irreverent where safe.

And I figure I'm here for the things they refuse to tell their parents. I'm the queer aunt for many of them, and have been the only person a few could open up to safely.

I will always aim to be a person kids can look to for an example of someone authentic, who stands up for their beliefs, and who offers kindness as well as badassery.

Besides, they're not interested. They asked me what being high was like and, with permission from their dad, I described it for them.

If anything, it encouraged them not to try it. They already have friends who smoke weed, but they don't want to because from what they've learned of my experience, it isn't something they'd like.

I educate kids on drugs, I don't give kids drugs.
