Is it normal of me to not attend at someones funeral who did me wrong?

I didn't attend at my godmothers funeral cause she did me wrong and was not nice to me and my mom told me why I didn't even give my time to her for the last time.

I don't know the story so its hard to say,

That being said if attending would have caused you harm because this person was truly very hurtful to you I think you are okay.

However, if it was not that bad and your family needed your support then you may regret not going for their sakes.

Either way, you should talk to your mom and let her know why you couldn't attend and ask her to understand your position. Tell her that you are sorry for not being able to be there for her and if that doesn't work maybe you could use some distance from those who can't respect boundaries.

Nobody has to attend anyone's funeral regardless who they are. Don't beat yourself up for not going and don't allow anyone to put you down for not attending.

I've only attended the funerals of two people who "did me wrong." It was from a distance and I was the one who put them there, so I don't see any reason why you just flat out not going at all is any worse. Not everybody is a good person. I don't believe in venerating s-bags just because they're not breathing and continuing to be a s-bag, so if that's your godmother I'm not going to fault you. If she just didn't let you have an extra slice of pie then you're petty, but if it is legit, you have my backing.

That said, funerals aren't for the dead. They're for the living. So, you disrespect the family of your Godmother and you speak badly about yourself by not going. See, even if your reasons for not going are justified, no one knows them so they see you not at the funeral and assume you're rude and don't care.

Depends how you see a funeral. Is it just a social attendence or the effort to pray for forgiveness of the departed soul. If its the latter, then, when YOUR times comes, you and your loved ones would want as many peoole to attend as possible.

By funeral, I mean the burial not the eulogy presentation bullshit drama. That I couldn't care less for.

It's OK, but remember this is a permanent choice for maybe a temporary feeling. Ask yourself if you can live with this decision 20 years. down the road. Because you're not going to get a do over.
