so my hormonal brother got a friendship band. his friends and best friend didn't give him that. some girl did and mom's teasing him about it. he says he doesn't care about exchanging friendship bends with his friends or me, he's just happy to receive it from a cute girl. that's #amatonormative culture at its peak.

Friendship day? Never heard of it. But they have days for everything making them all pointless anyway.
The simplest answer to the question though is platonic love don't include bonding that one shares with a partner therefore that's more desired.

I'd answer that that, too, varies from person to person. I think many people do value platonic love. Particularly as they grow older.
