My husband doesn't want me to breastfeed in front of my male relatives. what should I do?

Well, when you are in a serious relationship with someone, we all do things to support each other even when we do not 100% agree. Breast feeding in public makes some people nervous, so maybe someone asked him to say something. The only reason why they did not say it directly to you was because they did not want to offend you, personally.

Some people think breast feeding is a personal and very private intimate thing shared between a mother and child. They do not think it is meant for public observation. Some see it as volition of the public space, and that they should not have to be made to feel uncomfortable about something that is happening within that space.

Even if you are 100% comfortable with it, there is nothing wrong with respecting the fact that others are not comfortable with it. So how hard is it honestly to respect others without making everything about you and what you think? It's your husband and I am sure you both love each other deeply, so is it really so much to ask of you?

If breast feeding is the norm within your family ask your male relatives to have a quiet word with your husband to find out what his concerns are as they may be able to put his mind to rest,
As the elder brother to 4 sisters who all breast fed their children I've only had one brother in law who showed this kind of concern, and it was only after a long talk over numerous mugs of tea did he realise that guys in the family literally did not see any of the breast feeding that was going on around us, we did not see it as a sexual act, but a caring act, his brain was stuck in the 'naked breast-sexual act' groove.
If he's still that concerned the only other thing I can suggest is a breast pump and feeding bottles from somewhere like www.weebaby.com.tr/wee-baby-product-range-and-our-firsts and express milk before visiting your family.

I think he has a right to ask, but he should also understand that breastfeeding is natural and not at all sexual so he is making it weird by thinking of it like that, and should reconsider. You should do what you are comfortable with doing and don’t inconvenience yourself.

That's perfectly understandable, I used a certain amount of discretion when I was breastfeeding.
