What's Bad About Being Serious Most of the Time?

I am asking this because I don't understand what's bad about being serious most of the time. All else equal, I'd rather be alone than interact with people who likes to banter or tease harmlessly.

For me, life's already serious enough. I like folks who can balance getting shit done with enjoying what time I have.

Folks I know who feel like they need to "act serious" all the time are consistently confused, posing as serious to cover up insecurities, and and ironically have a hard time actually getting to brass tacks to be serious where it counts.

It’s more just a social deficit than anything. Not learning to laugh at other forms of humor means you can’t bond with people over those. There’s nothing wrong about having a specific sense of humor for different jokes and not for others, it just means that people won’t be able to feel comfortable connecting with you or being vulnerable with you

If you're so sure you don't need anyone new, or any changes to your lifestyle, why do you even ask about why it's bad to be serious if you're so certain it's not bad at all?

Yeah, that would be the social deficit of being serious. People who you are supposed to be very close to don’t see you as someone with any kind of laughter and not someone they can bond with in a way they consider to be essential

Right, but there’s nothing unserious about admitting you feel bad for not having a connection with your mom and your brother as much as your dad and other brother. Stoicism doesn’t mean emotionless, it means objectivity and *objectively* humans have feelings that effect our life whether we want them to or not. A modicum of vulnerability on an anonymous website won’t kill you

maybe yky are serious because yky are not comfortable with the people yoy are with... even eith your SO yky are serious? oh well even SO has different humor. you just have to find that perdon who gets ykur humor. nevertheless nothinh is wronh with it as long as your SO can connect with yoy that's why it's important to share your thoughts and emotions

There is nothing wrong in being yourself as you are. I mean nothing wrong in being serious. Or whatever, however the person is. You don't mind such comments if anyone says anything to you it doesn't matter.
