Trending & News Is serious personality good?
They boost our mood and don't burden us with their issues. But serious people may be worth more of our time. True, serious folks are unlikely to make us laugh but also are unlikely to be annoying like perky types can be. … Serious people may be more likely to make a difference in the world. May 14, 2014
Huh. I agree with everything except that they're less likely to be annoying... A laid-back light hearted person never gets angry or annoying, we laugh everything off and never argue... It's only the serious people that are likely to get offended or start arguments
No. I like serious people. What I can’t stand are people who are never serious; can’t rely on them.

No but since im a goofy mf, i need to date a guy whos goofy too. I wanna spend our days laughing and loving

I'm glad that I feel I know you somewhat. We do entertain some serious questions and ideas.
When I first moved to CA, I felt the need to 'change' my behavior and 'self-image' from a somewhat, 'carefree' man, to a more 'serios' and goal-oriented person. My first really good job here in Orange County was with McGaw Laboratories, in Irvine, and then I moved on to Fluor Engineering and Construction. Both, wonderful opportunities for a 'young' man, as I was at that time.
My one boss at Fluor, said to me that 'I think you take yourself too seriously". My thought, is, that if you don't take yourself seriously, who will?
Had I taken that viewpoint earlier in my life and working career, I would have certainly advanced myself much further and faster.
Stay the course, Flower, and be a 'serious person that takes herself 'seriously'
No, but there needs to be a level of levity. I get told I am too serious or uptight a lot. My brain is just wired that way. I just don't have a high tolerance level for shit that doesn't interest me or I view as irrelevant and not worth my time.
Point is that if people say that, it's because they view you as possibly being miserable or a downer incapable of being a fun person. They want to know there is someone lively and fun under it all.
To follow up with that, at least you are self aware of that. I know I am a serious person myself and have been told that by others. My thought process is that if you don't take things seriously, no one ever will take you seriously about anything, the downside is that you may come off as stuck up or not friendly.
It's not true. Stick to who you are if it gives you peace of mind. Those that will understand and respect you will come and be in your life. Be serious of it makes you happy.
I’m born looking so serious but I’m the best internally lol I blame my Easter European traits I look scary and serious
I believe people that look serious are softies. People who appear nice to me scare me the most in the end.
I don't think any personality type or traits are inherently bad. Like Jordan Peterson said, "They all have utility! (aka can be beneficial/good) Otherwise, they wouldn't have worked themself out like that."
But I notice that I don't tend to prefer being around people that are serious most of the time when no important objectives or goals are trying to be met. I prefer to be around people that like to goof around but understand when to be serious.
Serious but not toxic, Yes.
Serious but not controlling because other person can’t manage things as good as Serious can.
-Serious but not intense as defense mechanism if you disagree or challenge.
-Serious, gentle, introspective, and GIVING.
-Serious but your smile takes the edge off for him…like will hug you or smile back.
I'd say no, but it depends on what circumstances. I feel I'm more on the serious side and find it a detriment when dating as everyone wants someone fun loving and spontaneous. I have a sense of humour and laugh at funny things, but I'm not going to be dancing on tables or running off somewhere on a whim, which I think puts some people off.
I am a serious person.
I am never off guard. So far it has helped me a lot.
I would appreciate to have someone who has the same thoughts as I have.
But I do laugh and do other things, nothing abnormal here. Just I am actively on look out for any kind of threat for me anywhere.
Being aware of your surroundings means you're smart. Thats a good thing but i think you're saying you know how to be serious when called for?
@DizzyDesii I believe so. From a totally friendly person to a complete serious in an instant.
Only the people I know, know that I just keep a serious face. After interaction with me, people may feel that I am actually an interactive person, a good listener if need be. I can only guess this as people come back to talk with me.
No it's not bad to be a serious person, but it is very bad for a serious person to get upset for the minor things. For example: I bought my grandmother a mug for Valentine's Day and she got mad because she didn't ask for it instead of just taking the gift. I got so angry for I smashed into tiny pieces and wasted $20 because it was a set. I always tell people: only get serious when there's a situation that causes the person to be serious about, don't let everything piss you off for no reason.
I don't think so as long as you have somewhat of a sense of humor. You can be a serious person but still have a sense of humor. I've been told by some of my relatives that I'm serious but I can also laugh at some jokes or attempt to be funny myself.
Not at all, I may seem like I mess about a lot on here, and I am pretty funny IRL but I'm also a very serious person, particularly in my job. There is a time and place for humour and for being serious.
This.
Why not be both? Too much of anything can be bad. If you are serious all the time, yes that's a problem. You need to loosen up a bit.
But that being said, most people are too "loose" these days. Don't take life seriously, think everything should be handed to them, and be fun. We need more seriousness, just don't go overboard.
Sorry, but I like to be able to laugh with the people that are around me. Serious people aren't known for having a good sense of humor. Being serious is needed for serious situations. But having to be around a serious person that wears a serious face and doesn't have a sense of humor can be depressing!
It’s not bad, but it’d be good to lighten up and laugh sometimes. There is a time and place for everything. I’m a serious person, and it’s never been much of an issue for me except for making friends. My friends joke around a lot, and sometimes, it involves me, lol. I used to be very sensitive, now I’m okay.
You can be serious about your career, life and hobbies, but it’d be cool if you could lighten up around your friends and family.
You’re not a problem You have always been very kind and nice to me 😊
No its not. I am and its great how people set their boundaries without me saying a word
I have a resting bitch face, so people always assume I'm serious or mean, but I'm really nott. So it's not bad to be serious.
You aren’t talking about yourself, are you? Did someone say this to you? You’ve always stood out as someone who has a good sense of humor.
No it isn't. I'm serious person myself too in real life.
nope... I'm a serious person, never been that much of an issue
Noooo i dont see it lol 💀
@DizzyDesii lmao.. of course I am
Only at work right
@DizzyDesii when is needed, yes
I would rather be or be dealing with a serious person
There is a balance to everything. It isn’t good to make light of everything.
But if you're blind or starving in Africa with no house and can laugh it off it's an advantage
No, it’s not bad at all, just also be able to let loose. It’s good to keep people around you in check, but sometimes people need to have some fun. So, while it’s good to have a serious personality, take some time to have fun. It’s good to have a serious personality, but not to always be serious.
Seriousness is fine as long as you're not stuck up or judgmental.
Depends on what you mean by a serious person. If it means you don't have a good sense of humor and are easily offended, then yeah it's a bad thing.
Nothing wrong with that as long as you have a sense of humor.
It's a good thing as long you're not uptight and I can still joke around with you.
Exactly like with you 😊
yes because i’ll probably laugh or give a bad vibe back as well
Ikrr 😂
yeah. you need to balance having fun and being serious out or you'll eventually be overwhelmed, bored of life and missing out. life's too short
No, it's not
As long as you're happy with yourself, that's all that matters
I would not say it is bad. However, being serious all the time bring with it a whole different set of problems.
How's being serious all the time problematic?
@Shiningtempest when do they take the time to laugh and smile. A lot of serious “all the time” type of people dont do that
@DizzyDesii yes, they are wrapped too tight and have trouble with self control.
@DizzyDesii On the contrary, I have respect for people being serious all the time because they are trained to handle problems.
Serious people get shii done.
@Flower7 There's nothing wrong with being a serious person.
No, it's not. As long as you know to have some fun and isn't serious all the time.
No. Unless it's in a dating context. No one wants to live with a person who is serious all the time. That would be a real drag.
I like someone that I can laugh with. But I don't think being serious is bad.
Well if the person never loosens up and has fun than yes
It isn't bad, but occasionally lightening up and laughing helps a lot.
In a way yes. They tend to be uptight and boring. They seem miserable people.
No, but a balance of being serious and having fun is ideal.
What do you mean?
Like preferring deep conversation topics over talking about TV shows and celebrities. And not making very many jokes.
Oh. As a serious person, I will say that you won't fit in most of the time. That could be solely my own experience though. People don't mess with you though and often times find you intimidating.
Nope, I have a serious point about myself
Why are you being so serious all the time?
Why, what's the worst that could happen?
Only if you're serious all the time.
If it's working for you... great
No. But being serious, unjust and angry is.
It's not. At least you keep the idiots away
If you like bad boys. Go ahead
Because they’re serious about getting laid and getting attached to a woman
Let me get back to you when I stop laughing.
No. I am.
Not always
Not at all.
If you're a guy yes.
up to you.
