Is being serious a bad thing?

My friend has been accusing me of acting way too serious. She says that if I want to get a new boy friend that I need to "loosen up" and stop yelling and start laughing. In my eyes it seems like if I change my seriousness then guys will like me for something I'm not. All I want to know is if me loosening up would be a bad thing.

Do guys not like girls who know what they want in life?

There is nothing wrong with being serious in the sense that you take your job/school/friendships/commitments seriously, and if that's who you are then you will attract people who see things the same way. But there is a point when it's better not to take things too seriously- life is just more enjoyable all around. If you find that you are always trying to control every person and situation you come in contact with (you mentioned yelling?) it may be beneficial to analyze what really matters in your life and what doesn't... and figure out why you take everything so seriously- perhaps it's fear, insecurity or trust issues. You can't really appreciate the small things, and you may miss out on tons of amazing opportunities, if you are so serious that you are closed-minded.

Guy's like goals and aspirations. Not planning down to the last little detail. Lightening up can be as simple as a smile guy's will approach you more if you smile. Laughing does get attention but don't laugh fake or for no reason it will get you the wrong type of attention it screams I live off peoples attention which screams easy sex but high maintenance so don't commit.

You don't need to change yourself to become less serious just work on being more spontaneous try doing things without thinking them through 3 times removing your filters when you are in social gatherings. It's still you just more raw unedited and people like that even if you are a bit serious if you are doing it in the moment without thinking they will like you.

i am a guy and i am serious and i love serious people instead of jerks who inserts a very bad joke in b/w a serious joke but ya sometimes do d thing u njoy without being serious
i play table tennis and loose most of the matches but since i play it without being seriious i enjoy it...
bt ya some elements of life should be serious career goals, future plans but as Chetan Bhagat said be sincere not serious but still dont chnge urself too much though sometimes wait and njoy the little gifts of life and if u have some underlying problems of childhood issues den solve dem with help...
