Why aren’t some of my friends really happy for me after I started my own business? Wouldn’t they be happy I’m back on my feet again?

Sure the last thing would be the case if they were ambitious and trying to improve and change their own situation but they are not. Friends generally connect over similarities and traits they have in common with other people. So you probably met those friends and when you were down and they were down, but now your building yourself up, you´re improving.
That makes them uncomfortable because the story they told themselves that one can´t change life´s circumstances and either you´re lucky or not doesn´t work anymore. That´s why they are probably not that much amused that you now have a better financial situation than them.
