I don't think you can always CHOOSE it. In my 20's I thought it would be easy for me to meet Mr. Right. However, I didn't want to also be left pregnant or lose my virginity to someone who would end up hurting me. That was one of my BIGGEST fears as a young person (getting used by a guy either emotionally or physically or getting pregnant by accident and then learning that he 's not ready to be a father).
I also wanted to be financially secure when I was in my 20's so I focused more on getting and keeping a part-time job, paying for college (out of pocket as I didn't know about grants, scholarships and loans from FAFSA!). I also didn't really know what to do with the rest of my life so I was struggling to find a major that spoke to me. I also knew that losing my virginity was going to hurt so I didn't really want to feel that, unless it was with Mr. Right. I was also really scared of being hurt emotionally (from a break up) and/or getting married and then shortly getting divorced right after or within only a few years.
But yeah, money was really one of the other bigger concerns that I had. Some people (mainly Hispanics and Blacks, no offense), they don't really care if they can afford, they just keep having children! Sometimes, I see Vietnamese people or Indian people at the Welfare office but very rarely and I've had my Food Stamps for a while now. I hope it is temporary for them but you really never know.
My parents planned things and thankfully for them, their plans worked out well. It was the 70's through the 90's of course so I feel it WAS easier to have a family back then. Good luck. Things are really expensive now, unless you make about 60k plus per year, you WILL struggle! You and your husband/baby daddy/partner, etc.
My Mom had me when she was 32. It was embarrassing to me as a second grader that the other kids mom's were younger than mine was by about 5 or more years than the other Mom's so my mom really didn't fit in with them, therefore, we didn't get to play together.
So, yes, have them early. I was 24 and into my third year of marriage when I gave birth for the first time.
Of course I am not one of those mom's that want to "See the world then have a baby". Shoot, why can't you take the baby with you and let your child travel too? They don't break🙂.
When I was 24 I had a lot more energy to take care of a newborn and work full-time, but I did it. In my 30's it started to wear on me more.
That's my vote - have it early
If I could go back? Early. All my friends who did get married and had kids did it in their mid-20’s and now their kids are getting old enough to help with their younger siblings. It used to be slightly amusing when I’d give them crap about how my pet would wake me up when they’d complain they never got any sleep, but the more I think about it, the more I realize it’s only going to get harder to have kids later in life.
My 20’s were fine. But I never had a lot of money to do a lot of fun stuff anyway. So they mostly blew by slaving away at work and wishing for the weekends. Now I’m approaching my mid-30’s with no female friends and no prospective partners and while I’m financially stable and have been able to buy a lot of what I wanted, including my own home I’m kind of wondering if there was really a point to it all if it’s just me.
Even if I found someone tomorrow, I have a lot more expenses than I did in my 20’s. I’m a lot more risk adverse than I used to be. There are potential fertility issues to worry about, which are really starting to pop up everywhere. I have less patience for kids and I’m more set in my ways. I would have kissed ass to be given a chance when I was younger with a cute girl. Now I’m kind of emotionally disconnected and a little apathetic.
It makes my time on the dating apps successful i am sure, as often I do not have luck with any swipes, as I openly state that I don't want offspring. Marriage with a woman is one thing, a relationship with a woman even. Having offspring just ain't in my life goals. 👍👀

later in life... the older you get the more yoy want company. once your kids are older they would focus more on having family of their own so it's not really bad to have kids later in life. sure you will have grandkids but children living on oyur own home you and your spoise being a parent to them i think that feels awesome. and i still believe that to have a happy family you have to prioritize your relationship with your spouse because that is crucial for an intact family. there's this couple Valeria Lipoetsky and her husband i think they're such smart couple.
Neither my husband or I ever wanted to be "old parents" and have been so blessed with having our two planned children fairly early in life.
I'm now thirty and my husband just short of thirty three, our little boy will be four in January, and our little girl will be celebrating her first birthday on the 7th Nov.
Hopefully all being well, we will be able to take our planned retirement in our early fifties.
Late 20s for me because i see it at a point where I'm not as young as i used to be, but I'm still young to carry my child, and I'm also not at risk for a high risk pregnancy, plus i can monitor my autoimmune disease. That’s a good age range for many reasons so that’s what I decided :)
Having had my first child at 37 I can see a benefit of. having kids earlier. My siblings had there first at 27, seems a good age. Enough time to get things in order but still young enough to have the energy to deal with excited toddlers. I'm 41 with a near 4 yr old and 2yr old
Ideally, early in life. I wanted my first kid anywhere between 18-25 but I still have not gotten lucky and I've surpassed that age. A bad habit of mine is the dudes i date, though the same age, their parents had them at like 50-70 years old and they see that shit as normal. Like um no not happening over here
Definitely later. Hell, even not being in a relationship as long as possible has done me so much good mentally, physically and emotionally. The man I’d choose when I was 23 is completely different from the man I’d choose at 27. I needed this time to figure myself out and what I want. Having children is definitely a complete lifestyle change as to where your life no longer matters the most and if I had them young I would have limited myself of this life I’ve spent finding myself.
I'd probably try for one in my early thirties. I don't want it to get to the point where I become an older parent in my forties, but I'd rather have fun in my twenties first and accomplish things before becoming a parent.
I have a cousin who is in her mid forties.. She focused on career before family.. She is now unable to have kids. I can't explain why beyond its simply not possible, her something about her eggs not being viable. Her one regret is choosing against having kids. Now she's in her forties, alone, no family, no husband, just a career..
The way I see it, if you choose to prioritize your career, that's fine, but you have absolutely ZERO right to complain later if you find your self where it's too late to have children.
So you rather someone be poor with no money but have a child? I understand. You can ALWAYS make money, you can't always have children.
The first part of your comment is nonsense, at no point did I say that.. The second part is true. You can always make money, but women have a biological clock.. So in essence you cannot always have children.
Can confirm if you can do it later, I'd have rather done that.
I had all my kids by the time I was 29 and by 51 they were all educated and living on their own. I'm still young enough to play beer league sports with them.
I had them early in life. I had my last one before I turned 30. I had them all through college when I was 50. My cousin who is my age will be almat 70 by the time he is done paying for college.
Either is fine but, I'd probably go for later. That way, we can avoid all the diapers and school and growing up shit because they'll already be adults. The later in life you have them the older they are when they're born.
My fiancé and I planned to have our first, when I’d be 27. I’d be 27 soon now though and we have broken up year ago.
So, I guess, someday I’ll just get a hot sperm donor and that’s it.
For crying out loud... you're still young! Even at 35 you can still have kids! Even at 40.
Oh hey, I am sorry. I was too harsh on you. I am not Simping or anything. I am worried you had a fracture in your leg. I am so so sorry. People shouldn't judge you.
I was just unhappy about it too. I am also a man. I had an engagement that was broken. And cherry on top it was arranged and I wasn't happy under the circumstances it took place. I was hurt too you know. And despite this, I am willing to marry someone again. Start all over again. I don't care. I want to marry someone who will accept me the way I am. @LaFemmeFatale_1 she looked similar to you. Only problem she was nagging and called me illiterate, uncivilized and disrespectful all the time that it made me really unhappy about it. And guess what I was not interested in sect based debate. One of the reason I felt less religious was just this. No religious person I know who prayed 5 times, and did the obligatory things helped my family in our darkest times. They just hold name of God in one hand and justified corruption.
Leaving the that behind. Hey just don't give up on marrying someone. Get up you are young and probably going to remain beautiful for the rest of your life. So don't feel like you won't find someone to marry and have children
@AmeerX Thank you for the kind words 🤍
You are better equipped later , but the body wants you to go early , I was 28 when I became a father , both my daughters are older than that and neither has a child.
Having children too early can cause complications for the mother and more mental and emotional turmoil than if you were to have children in your mid 20s to mid 30s
There are many problems for males, too
@brownsugar00 what about late 20s? My neighbor was 28 when she gave birth to her daughter and got pregnant at 27 so nearly 28 I guess? But her daughter is so healthy and I saw how fast she was able to come back from childbirth and postpartum. I’ve heard doctors say that’s a good time too since it’s not too young but it’s not old either.
@Paulalove98
Any time can be a good time , but every time is difficult for a woman , no matter what age , so any age can be perfect , but it depends on the individual, for mine , I'm awesome now but the difference is I have that experience , empathy , and most important I have time..
Which I didn't have at 28 years.
I'm 32 next year, and still no sprogs. I've said if it hasn't happened by my late 30s then forget it. I leave it to fate. What will be, will be.
I'm having all mine before 30. I'd rather have them young and get to chill in my 40s+. Plus I hated having old parents so I refuse to do that to my kids. It's better being a young fun mom and be able to do all the cool stuff with them.
I want to become pregnant sometime after finishing my studies, when I have a job. I want to be a younger mom because I want to be able to play longer with my kids without getting tired, relate more to them, ...
There are pros and cons to both. You absolutely don't want to start a family in your late 30s-early 40s. That's nothing but trouble, and not good for your kids. Your update implies that you can't enjoy your life with children. That's ridiculous.
I had kids fairly early in life, so that they can grow up, leave home, and let me live the rest of my life... and retirement... in peace.
That's the best way to do it.
That's quite a common misconceptipn many have about children, to be honest. One will always be a parent, whether their child (ren) leave the house, move away and have a family of their own. And whose to say that ones retirement will be a peaceful one. Many claim and expect their children to care for them, when that's no guarantee. But I hope that doesn't happen with you.
Early-ish. We are planning to start in 2025, when we are 25. We are having a lot of fun just being free right now, though.
What's the reason why you would decide to start a family early?
When I am like 32-35, before I wanna enjoy my youth without responsibilities to worry about.
Not at all. Life is a nasty cruel crazy place. I won't sentence my kids to such fate. To live 80 years or more on this wicked wicked world. I am already tired of this world and i am not even 35
Later in life, I've seen my sister and my sister-in-law with a age-difference of motherhood of four years, and I've seen my sister despair about it and thus often give her son to either her parents or parents-in-law.
having kids early in life= settling for the wrong person, not having enough money to raise kids, not being able to develop your career.
these are all consequences of having kids too early in life.
I’m no interested in having kids in any time in my life
Neither, I don't like seeing people suffer, hence why I wouldn't want to bring life into this horrible world
At this point of my life I already understood that I won't have biological children. So, if I ever have kids they will be adopted. So I will become a mother later in life.
Early in life when you have more energy. I still have lots of energy, I just prefer to apply it elsewhere these days.
I would've preferred to be done having kids by now, but life didn't pan out that way for me. So, now I have no choice but to have them later.
Hard to decide. Early (young) you have more patience, to deal with the baby/child/young adult. Later, maybe not so much?
I never had children and now I’m 33 years old so I don’t have a choice
You're still in your child bearing years, despite what you think and what you hear others say! But it's whether you think you can care and love a child or not.
You're 30's is still your prime child bearing years. I think it's late 30's and up is what you have to worry about. I thought I fell pregnant (pregnancy scare) at 34. Thank God I didn't as it was with this asshole one night stand.
That said, my aunt who was 48 when she conceived her twins and she delivered them at 49 used IVF. She had twin boy and girl and that was back in 2012, after she already had three kids from her first husband.
Later, enjoy single or married earlier years and build up your savings before children.
Not too early but not too late. U wanna enjoy your early 20s so I say after 25 is the perfect time to have a kid up until 30
I'd say anytime after 25 and before 40 is a good place to start a family!
I did it later in life. It was a mistake. It's definitely better to have kids when you're younger.
Why would you say it was a mistake? What did you regret?
Probably because you won't have much time with them the later you go. Also, I think the older you are, the less you can tolerate early childhood whinning and crying. Lol. I work as a customer service rep and the amount of TANTRUMS I heard from children (both the annoying and not so annoying) is well... I can only imagine the parents having to deal with that in the car or in a closed space! Some children are serious brats. And sometimes, the parents don't even scold them properly! It's like they are entitled too! There are some neglectful parents out there alright.
It's really just about energy levels. Your ability to interact and play with small kids is MUCH better when you're younger. I'd say the ideal is probably for women to have their kids in their 20s and for men to be in their late 20s or early 30s when they're all born. Also, if you have kids when you're at that age, your parents (the kids' grandparents) will be MUCH more useful and will also enjoy them more. And that's great for the kids too. Also, if you have them earlier, YOU'LL be around and healthy when your kids have kids so you'll get a lot more joy out of being a grandparent.
I'm not saying it's the end of the world to have them later, and I'm glad to have had them later rather than not at all. But there is NO QUESTION in my mind that it's best for the vast majority of people to have kids in their 20s and 30s.
Happy to discuss further if helpful.
Never. I love kids, but as long as I'm in the USA, it's never.
I think 30 is right age for men
I think it's pretty much the right age for almost everyone!
Yes i kind of agree.. basic rule is get self sufficient first , get excess resources to burn then go for kids or else wait.. in that sense 30 is pretty reasonable time i assume
In my culture men provide, so finance is pretty important for men so 30 and i think for girls the minimum age can be lower (24-35) is a pretty reasonable time frame anything below and above can cause issue
I think so too. You get yourself established, take time out for yourself, gain experience, expand friendships, meet new people, travel...
I agree
Yup 👍
I wish feminism didn't destroy modern dating and lie to us that a career was more important then rasing kids. I wish I was a stay at home mom.
Actually, it's the other way around. Society for many many years has been pushing women to be committed to be stay at home moms, maids and to clean up after their husband's. Being a mom is the only important job to have on this planet, nor is it the only happy and fulfilling one. Actually motherhood is o ly happy and fulfilling when both mothers and fathers has a part on raising their children and its not just put on the mother.
I wish many men and women didn't have such lies and misconceptions in their head of what a women is supposed to do and be like! Like motherhood is the only choice women have before becoming "too old"!
For me definitely early in life but it didn't happen 😕
Not till I’m thirty. I agree with you.
from my known level to have within a year of relationship easier... after that things getting more difficulty mentally and physically
24-29 is good for women. 26 to 35 for men.
More like 25 to 40 for females and 30 to 45 for men 😊
Of course it is. Doesn't mean that it's biologically and factually true
Of course it is
I had my first when I was 36.
I'd rather not have kids
probably never in life.
dont want kids
@colaman94 I don't want marriage either
In my 30s.
Any age. I’m getting old so no choice.
I rather have none
I have a two childiren sister and brother
We had ours late its good and bad
I'd do it early
