I love my big family.
I grew up with 3 siblings. My older brother has 3 kids. My older sister has 2. I have 2. My little sister has 1. We always have 13-18 people around.
We see each other often and we connect often.
I am looking forward to our Thanksgiving garthering in a few weeks.
i can get alonh pretty easily with everyone i don't have mean bone on me the problem is i don't understand wht be it friends pr relatives they are the ones who keep coming to me to hatw me. not once i've been there to their houses they're the one who go to my house and rhen gossip. same with friends i am an introvert i don't reach put but if i am being reach on i am hospitable and just happy to connect. and this is why i find it so annoyinh that they have the guts to hate. i can live alone i am fine with just my sisyers and parents even with just SO and cats i am fine but since the miraculous healing of my father i promise God to spread His word hence i wanted to be an influencer. i prayed to God for another wish and that is to be woth somekne because it eas love at first sight my fear of not beinh able to feel romantically strongly with someone after my ex suddenly vanish and felt i knew him for a long time but obviously he doesn't like me back and that's fine you know. the problem is i am still under his hild. i just want to help my family and find lovelife who i love and who love me back too. i didn't force anyone to like me. i am almost willing to eat shit poop to be eith this person but i am always not good enough for him so why can't you just lwt me go. he wanted me to be his roboy. i was just looking for love dude if you don't like me just let me go instead of fucking chamging me

I know someone who has retinopathy. She is about your age and lives in Indiana. Sadly her birthday 42nd was on 27October and type 1 diabetic and blind in one eye.. but it really makes me happy whenever I talk to her. She doesn't have biological children but she adopted her boyfriends.

big family feels great but it comes at a great cost to the mother who has to raise all these kids. In order to have a big family, the mother needs to not only birth every one of them but chances are she stressed , overworked herself for YEARS trying to raise these kids to adulthood. Not only that, she likely will have to babysit a lot of grandchildren. It comes at a big price that many aren't willing to pay. Life will be especially hard if the father is not an adequate provider. This day in age , even 1 child costs too much. don't even talk about 4-6 kids.
2-4 kids are doable.
We all make scrafices in life. Depends what you want.

Inflation has increased cost of living drastically over the past 20 years. It was cheap to raise kids back then but too expensive now.
I grew up under poverty, it was a miserable existence. 24k a year for family of 4. My parents are in their 60s and had never been on vacation their entire lives.
Kids need resources to grow up well. Send them to college, pay for trade school. Set then up for a decent life. Dont raise kids giving them the bare minimum.
My parents couldn't even give me the bare minimum. The government raised me. We received a tiny bit of welfare.
For college, you would quality for Pell and Tap grant with that income from your parents.

Pell and tap really won't cover entire tuition especially if you're looking to go for better colleges. 10 years ago, i remember rejecting an acceptance to a really good university because my parents simply couldnt pay. I didn't feel like taking out 120k in loans so i didn't go.
luckily i was able to find a much cheaper lower quality college in my city. But these colleges really dont exist very much. If you live elsewhere, you wouldn't be able to find such cheap universities
Raising kids off of nothing is a miserable existence for both the parent and the children. Please dont try to justify how your child deserves to grow up with nothing or be denied of things they want or need in life.

Going to a city school can bring success. Then make enough money to go back to school if one wishes.
whatever that the parent cannot provide for their child... the child will have to take on additional hardship in order to obtain a decent life.
For example, my parents never owned a car so they could never teach me to drive. I had to take on an additional job in order to learn to drive. I worked 2 jobs at the age of 23 so I could afford driving lessons. Meanwhile, my other classmates knew how to drive by the age of 16 because their parents taught them.
Because I couldn't afford a car, I had to take the train 2-3 hours to get to college on a daily basis while other students (who had richer parents) could drive to college- which took on average less than an hour.
I've seen on multiple occasions where parents who couldn't afford to send their kids to college, their kids had no choice but to be forced to either take on a trade job or work a low wage job at burger king. They really don't have the choice to pick what they want to do in life.
When I was a teenager, I went through 3 years without a proper fitting winter coat. I had to wear something that didn't even fit because the family had to save money. My parents walked 8 miles just to save 10 dollars on train fare. My parents are 65 years old and have never been on vacation their entire lives. They could never afford it. Over the past 25 years, they probably only ate out at restaurants 4-5 times. because they could never afford it.
when parents don't think it is their responsibility to provide their kids with adequate resources , their kids usually don't end up doing well in life. The cycle of poverty will just continue from one generation to the next. Kids need resources to do well in life.
There is a difference between merely raising kids versus raising kids WELL.

Believe me, I know where you are coming from.
I had no shoes and no food to eat. I went to the mountains to look for food. I dug up roots to suck on. I ate fruits before they became ripe. By teen, I worked and took care of my little sister between 14-24 years old.
I took jobs, went to MS to HS and cooked for my family. I also got my own license and bought my own cars. And worn clothes that are hand me downs or from thrift shops.
We took the train and of course my mom got the $1.00 fruits/veggies that they are really to be thrown out.
I worked in a supermarket/babysat/folded table clothes… to make money and used the money to buy vegetables for my family. (I looked for sales all the time ;)
Picked up my little sister from school , gave her snacks, bath, teach her how to do her homework, cook for family of 5.
At the end… I am very proud to be here and how I was raised from poverty.
My belated dad was working away from home and was making $900. a month washing dishes in restaurants. He would complain the pain from his hands for bing in hot water. He was also robbed coming from from the train.
Now… we all are very grateful to be where we are. We tell stories to our kids, newphews, nieces…
My nephew can have anything he wants…beciase his parents are doing really well now… but he doesn’t want them to drive him. He got his own degree, his own license without their help.
I wish more kids grow up like you and me.
Kids nowadays have too much. They don’t appreciate or respect their parents.

It is better to raise kids who can lead decent lives, be able to pay bills though entitled or rude than to inadequately raise children who grow up to not be able to pay bills, can't raise their own kids, lead miserable lives.
At the end of the day, we know that what matters most is making sure our own kids grow up to lead decent lives. You can't lead a decent life if you are constantly worried about not being able to pay bills. When your livelihood is being constantly threatened, nothing else matters. You need money to sustain life.
I went through hell growing up under poverty. I don't want my kids to go through the hell that I went through. Thats why I want to be very financially stable before my kids are born.

We have the resources to pay for their car, pay for their education and buy them their first house but they don’t know that.

The pattern I have seen over the years is that poor people try to justify providing their kids with nothing. While richer people understand the importance of money to one's livelihood and success.
This is the reason why rich people are rich while poor people are poor. Because both populations hold significantly different values in life. Rich people understand that having money requires skills, knowledge, learning, preparation. Poor people don't understand this which is why they lack the skills to make money.
This is why poor parents tend to produce poor children then poor grandchildren. It is due to the mindset that learning, skills, education, preparation for life does not matter.
I'm not saying you need to be rich. But in my personal opinion, I don't think continuing generations of poverty is a good thing.

I am proud to be raised by mg parents who worked very hard to get us to a better place.
All my 3 siblings are very successful even though we came from nothing.

Poor parents don't tend to raise successful kids. There are exceptions. But its not the common pattern. My childhood growing up under poverty was a complete horror story. From commuting 6 hours a day to get to college to rejecting top schools of my choice to working 2 jobs just to learn how to drive to walking 8 miles so we could save 10 dollars on bus fare. I think it would be odd of you to expect me to say these are "happy times".
Living a life of deprivation, growing up on nothing was one of the hardest times of my life. When a parent works hard but still can't provide the child enough... thats not a good thing.
I have a different way of thinking.
Appreciation and gratitude will go a long way.
I can bitch about my childhood, my parents, my circumstances. But I don’t do that. That it self changes one’s future generations… regardless of having money or not.
I am in the process of working with my daughter to change that mind set.
She being in this privileged society…presented ungrateful attitude… i on a daily bases working with her to learn to appreciate what she has.. she is 70% there. We still have a few years to teach her.
If we think about what we don’t have…we will always feel sad and upset.
If we appreciate what little we have and can do what we can, we will come out to feel at easy and better.

I have graduated from college. But it was the fact that I grew up seeing the horrors of being poor which gave me that drive to study hard, go above and beyond to advance my career so that I would never have to be poor again.
I would agree its important to realize that nothing is free in life and to take nothing for granted. But kids need resources to grow up well. A decent adult life is built, not given.

I would disagree. Over my lifetime, I have learned this: Poor people are poor because they didn't try to get ahead in life when they were younger. I don't forgive my parents for choosing to be lazy, taking the easy way out by surviving off of welfare than working hard, learning, training for better paying careers. After spending a lifetime working so hard to better myself, I cannot respect someone who chooses to be lazy, take the easy way out of things.
There are plenty of people who never want to go to college, never want to learn anything, never care to build themselves. Just work their 8-hour shift at McDonalds then go home to watch tv laugh then go to sleep every night. Live this type of easy life then complain why they are broke.
Money doesn't grow on trees. You must work hard on yourself in order to make money. I learned this the hard way when I had to suffer so much training in school for so many years after high school just to obtain a better life. It was very hard on me, unspeakable horrors of what I endured trying to work while going to school.
I know the type you are talking about. I am not going there.
Life is not fair, you are able to get out... then make a new life for yourself.
You are changing your family legacy, don't bring the negative with you.

both of these were the biggest excuses.
As I got older, I realized you really don't need to go to school / college to get better pay. You just need to learn a skill. It could be anything from making delicious bread, to being a carpenter, painter, chef, mechanic, barber.

I can't forgive that. I can't understand that. It takes a special type of lazy to stay in a country for 30 years and still not speak the language.
I grew up with my parents constantly stressing me out to do better in school. But now as I am grown up , I finally realized the reason why they stressed me out so much to do better. Its because these losers have low self esteem and knew they didn't accomplish what they wanted to accomplish in life so they want their kids to help them feel accomplished.
They knew they would never be able to buy a house so its easier to have their kid buy a house for them to live in.
I have fought tooth and nail for a better life. None of it came easy to me. I've done this for a lifetime since I was a child. Finally I have achieved it. And I plan on continue fighting to better myself for the rest of my life.
You can compare me to my parents who have literally done nothing in their lives.

I believe my dad tried taking a free class to learn English. My mother never tried. My dad did learn vocabulary words but he never practiced in real life speaking English. So eventually all the words he learned in class was forgotten, due to lack of practice. All they liked to do was to stay within their comfort zone, live in a neighborhood with people of their own kind (who also didn't speak English), avoid interacting with anyone who did speak English. You can't grow in life if you always want to take the easy way out. It takes a lot of determination, perseverance, strength to pursue a goal. They simply did not have this type of perseverance or determination.
They spent many years watching other immigrants who learned to speak broken English able to obtain better paying jobs such as hotel maid jobs. While they can't simply due to their lack of language.
My mother would tell me that she gave birth to kids so that her kids can language interpret for her. YET, she was the same person who always pressured me to work hard to make more money in life.
Someone who was unwilling to work hard, had no goals in life, never learned anything in life... forcing her kids to work hard to achieve a better life.
When I was young, I believed in her excuses. But as I got older, I realized how hard I was working for so many years while my parents just sat back, did the bare minimum, received welfare from the government.
I realized that nothing good comes in life without hard work. Anyone who has a lot of money had paid the price for it at some point in life.

Both parents worked up until I was around 12. I remember quality of life being much during those times. After I was 12, my dad stopped working and stayed home permanently. By my teen years, life was way worse than when I was younger. We never went shopping unless it was black Friday sale. We barely ever got the things we needed. I never got a cell phone till I was in my 20s. The government raised me, not my parents. I thank the government for my existence.

When you think being poor is a good thing or when you dont think it is the parents duty to provide their kids the preparation and resources they need to succeed as adults, this is the reason why poor parents tend to raise poor children

I do see the point in children respecting authority. However, I think respect should be earned rather than just blindly handed out.
I do understand why you love your parents. Ultimately they're the only ones who been there for you. You had nobody else. However, it does not mean you need to respect the fact they were lazy, did bare minimum, never felt they had to give you anything more. Most important thing is that you realized what your parents did wrong so that you won't repeat the same mistakes to you own children.
Not understanding what your parents did wrong, thus doing the same thing to your own children will only continue the cycle of poverty.
I'm the youngest by a lot of years with two brothers and a sister and in addition to my four kids I have nine nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephew. We are close and see each other often and always spend holidays at the parents place. Mom and dad live for those days. It can be quite a circus from time to time.

I have 5 sisters, I am the youngest and I am currently carrying my third child. I love big families even though at times it can be a madhouse. I am not sure how many I'll have, I original thought four, but we'll see.

I have 2. When they were younger, I always took them to their cousins…they are similar in age, they always lots of fun…and pretty colors and connected as a family.
My kids are teenagers now… and they are really really sweet. Having a family is so much a beautiful thing.

I would consider your family small unless you all live under the same roof. When i think of big families, i think of people who have a bunch of kids (6+) AND/OR have the grandparents/ aunts/uncles/cousins living with them as well. My family is small even when everyone did live under the same roof

For now… my immediate group is much healthier and happier bunch.
I don't mind having a big family. I depends on how? much money I can make. It also depends on my sweet future wife. Can she deliver 10-15 babies? Does her health / body allow her to do so? I can't to wait to marry and make babies with her. I can't risk her life if she can't deliver.

Yes, big families are what I was raised in. I come from a religious culture of plural marriage (aka more than one wife) so more kids in general with multiple mothers.

My older brother and his 3 kids have a 4 bedroom house. 3 1/2 bathrooms. 2 living rooms, dining room…etc… plus an above ground basement with a pin pong table…he used to have a swimming pool. He filled… silly.
My older sister has 2 kids. 2 houses.
I have 2 kids… in a 3000 sq feet. House.
But growing up you would live together and that's the problem
