What's your relationship with your parents like?

I really disliked my mother ( she died in 1998 ) , in hindsight it was certainly justified , she was a manipulator and always tried to put me down , constantly , I got out when I was 18 , went back for a while later on , but she didn't change , backhanded manipulation , subtle constant digging , said she was into " positive thinking " , but was actually the exact opposite , told me too much about her sex life , and generally fcked me up , spent much time in later later years talking to phycologists to rid myself of the pain and trauma that I suffered , and get my mind in the correct space from constant put downs.

Big part of the problem was my father was in a car accident when I was 7 , he died when I was 15 , she lost that check / balance when I was 7 , and then went right off the rails , always playing the " victim " also , and never assisting me with my sport , she would say she did , so my Dad I would have love to have had him , but he was missing from age 7 , the only good thing , it made me appreciate the early years with my 2 girls , and how important the job of a parent actually is.

Parents can do a plethora of damage , even if from the outside people would say they are " Good parents " and " Good people " , as you just never know whats really going on.

I've always hated my mother and she made it easier to not care when she got me arrested for no reason and kicked me out, all so she can sleep with her boyfriend.
Oh yeah her boyfriend was someone way younger without his own place and disabled, yeah I wonder who's in control of that relationship.

My dad he's alright but comes with his own bad parenting. He never once paid child care, granted he showed me gaming and bought me an Xbox on Christmas and did stuff with me. But it's always like he half wants me half don't. I don't hate him just confused by him but oh well. He's not insane like my mother so won't see him ring the cops on me.

Then my Step mum she's crazy but not in a bad way. I like her but I don't see how her and my dad will ever work out. And she told me right away she does porn and stuff so... and yeah she's not very "Appropriate" with me so that's a thing by the way my dad is opposed to all that he's not conservative but he's not left like me who's good with it all.

I don't know I love them both but I also hate them and wish they never had me.. Its kind of stupid because when I go back home they always baby me, give me money and try to still be my parents but it is like you messed up my entire childhood and teen years you can't make it better now, I am a grown adult it is too late..
I guess I am an asshole but growing up feeling like I am the only one I can depend on made me a very arrogant and selfish person.. I don't empathize for people very much and I just take what I want, which is probably why my love life sucks so bad too.. lol

Mom- barely talking due to I'm avoiding the arguing, the drama, the bullshite of her refusing to accept my new life. Love her? Of course... but I got better things to do than argue, try to move a stubborn bull and make time for something I know I have a 98/27 chance of seeing progress.

Dad- Meh, good as ever will be. Nothing has changed between us besides me. He can understand better than she can.

Good. I think my mother and I have reached a good balance. She's my mother and always will be so she will always get the respect due to her because of that. But my mother's 80. Sometimes it's hard for her to accept there are just things about the world she cannot follow anymore. a lot of times she's debating with antiquated information. She still thinks computers are a fad. And will eventually go away. She gets mad about how much of life is internet based now-a-days. So sometimes it can be challenging with her when she's arguing an undefensable point. So I pick my battles😂 I'm going to be her age to before I know it.😂

There is a great distance between me and my parents and they can't come to visit me. The communication is non-existent. I prefer it to be like that. It's best for my own good. I live alone.

I had a good relationship with them. My parents got divorced when I was I high school and my father married someone else. I was angry with him for a few years bus we reconnected

Sadly they have both passed but it was good. I worked with my dad. They weren't perfect parents, but from talking to others they were a lot better than many.
