What did having a domestic helper teach you?

My company has hired a Domestic Helper for me to cook meals, clean and help me with housework for the first month of recovery from my ORIF surgery (broken bone fixed).

It’s her 2nd day here and since I have never had a helper hired before, I realized this new part of my life provides me with new life lessons.

First, since there is another person dependent on me, who I am making decisions for,

1. I need to do more planning for both of us.
2. I need to divide my budget more responsibly and wisely.
3. I need to be more organisational and decisive.

I feel like that’s a great opportunity to get new skills I never had to learn as I was too carefree to ever care about planning or budgeting. What a wonderful new skills to learn! I hope I’ll learn well enough.

I have a PA but that's mostly for shopping and getting to places and dealing with meetings, government stuff etc.
A PA can also be for cooking and that but I like just quickly microwaving stuff and I eat at odd hours and etc. And my PA is great but I don't think he would be much help at some stuff.
Though I may be able to use extra hours I have for my friend who can then help me do stuff. It's to help me be more social but I just dislike been social, well social with people I don't know and aren't online.
If I get my own place though I may need more help with stuff. I ain't the best at chores.

Yes, when you have people working for you, you have to think of their fate too. It's not just about you anymore.
By the way, in my country, having a servant or two is considered normal for us haha. Perks of a big population 😅. And when I tell people they think I am bragging but really it's normal to have servants do the house cleaning 🧹, and dishes. Cooking is for the ladies though.
I am really happy for the servant lady on the farm. She is like part of the family. Household servants are common here so I know. Especially when they have spent a long time with us

Better hope she is nice or she will hate your trying to learn from her and distract her!

Having help since I lost my leg has been a mixed bag. I'm fairly inflexible and like things done my way when cooking so I've had to learn a bit more flexibility. Not being able to clean the house is a challenge, so having someone else to help has been good.

Habits. The first step is usually the hardest one to take. Then when chores become automatic, it’s muscle memory. It becomes a standard. You find yourself wondering how you lived before that when you get used to healthy meals and a clean household.

The only domestic helper i had is my wife. She taught me that if I made a mess I would be in trouble.
