What were you responsible for?
Not really.. my older sister had to do the dishes mainly.. I just might have to help with dishes and keep my room clean. When I was 17 my mom went to jail for three months and my sister didn't live with us anymore, my dad became a dictator lol. Making me do dishes and laundry everyday and would bitch if there was dog hair and say I didn't sweep and wash the floors when I did.. So I had to leave the dog outside until he came home and seen I did sweep. He was only buying bread and bologna to make sandwiches. Then forcing me to make dinner when I didn't even know how to cook so I would have to call my sister for help lol and some days he wouldn't come home after work to eat, instead staying out drinking until like 2am. So after a month and a half I started sleeping over at my sisters most days because he was just becoming super annoying and mean for no reason.
Yes, like that other opiner said, I hate messes! I also learned how to cook when I was young and always helped my mom in the kitchen. My brother's did most of the outside work with my dad, he always had projects going lol
Just got through talking about this with my sisters. We did literally everything from cooking to cleaning to changing baby sister's diapers. Mom sat there getting high and drinking her beer... collecting child support while baby sister's dad was at work. Doing shit like spreading her legs and saying how free it feels to spread eagle and just kick back. Then she had her angry side. You're looking at getting hit with a long metal rod and told how to scrub the baseboards with beach and water.
I seriously hope my mom trips and falls into a wood chipper. I'm guessing you're either like me or... you actually had a childhood.
@Staximus I know right... Nobody has memories like I do for some reason. I don't even mention the really bad things. Like wtf, everyone else never spent their day throwing dead kittens your step dad ran over in the trash? ... and then have to cook him dinner and then do the dishes and deep clean the toilet after that? Oh by the way I got a F at school so I wasn't allowed to eat. To get bites of a cheese burger... I had to crawl around on the ground and bark like a dog... that's how he treated me. Mom would just beat the shit out of me and tell me I should be glad I got fed in the morning.
@Staximus You'd like to think I just made all that shit up. It is all 100% real shit I actually did or been through. All I did was recall memories of a 100% factual day I had to go through. Yes, I really did have to crawl around and do circles and dog tricks like a dog... sit, speak, rollover... just to get bites of a cheeseburger. ... and that was the good times. That was my parental love. I had to jump up in the air from my knees and bite the cheeseburger by the way.
Then I have to listen to these faggots complain how they can't get a girlfriend. Getting a girlfriend is the least of your worries... do your laundry or something.
Holy fuck I read everyone else's answers. I did everything you all did and way the fuck more. I had to fix plumbing, do roofing, change the propane tanks, cook all the meals, do all and any cleaning, everyone's laundry, if the toilet is fucked I have to fix it, all the childcare responsibilities for my baby sister... feeding, entertaining, changing diapers et cetera... and you fuckers got nothing but shoveling snow or taking the trash out? What the fuck leave it to Beaver world did you guys get to grow up in? Just the fucking trash and some snow? I am shocked.
Yes, I always helped out around the house My mom was always cleaning , so I always offered to give her hand with anything , mainly laundry , trash , dishes , wiping things down and dusting. And vacuuming etc. , I am still that way , even when I am in a relationship and living with her. When I get home from work I jump right on to cleaning and chores , then I will plop my ass down once everything is pretty much done

My parents both worked. They left me at home alone at age 6 to tend to house chores and care for my then 2 yr old sibling. I was grounded or beaten if i failed in any capacity. I grew up thinking this was normal and expected of kids
so one could imagine, now in my adult life, I’m extremely meticulous and anal about house tidiness and chores. But I’d NEVER expect my kindergarten age kids to do what I did.
absolutely, my parents had their own business and I had to help clean that business (roller skating rink) while growing up. I learned how to handle a mop and broom early in life. I didn't clean much at home but did cook a lot for my siblings when my parents were working. I still cook, actually all the cooking for my wife and me and I'm now seventy years old, I enjoy cooking and wife says that I'm really good at it.
Not really. I remember a brief stint where my parents paid us an allowance to do chores. But we did them about as well as kids do. 😁 I remember the first job i got was at 10 years. old. So it's not like I wasn't a hard working kid if I do say so myself. I delivered papers. That's pretty hard to screw up. I'm sure I probably did as much damage as I did help when I was given chores though.🤣
I had to tske the garbage out to the street and bring the empty garbage can back in later, I cut the grass with a manual hand push mower, either dry or wash the dishes in the winter shovel off the porch and steps as well as a very long driveway.
When I vacuumed my room I also did the hallway and the stairs. Sometimes I took the trashbags outside to the containers. Sometimes I carried the water bottle crates inside.
Yes I did things like keeping my room clean (making bed every morning), dinner dishes and while mom or dad vacuumed I would be doing the dusting of furniture were a few of my chores.
Yes, in my family we started doing chores as we became old enough to handle them, and they were not rigidly applied you did them when they needed doing, except for me being the eldest and only boy I got most of the outside chores.
I did help around the house as a child. I did some vacuuming and also helped keep the garage picked up. Also, helped with painting projects.
Yes, but I wanted to do the chores anyway. I have always hated mess.
A little bit, but we had maids who came in and cleaned our house so we didn’t have to do that. I did help with cooking a little when I got older.
I was responsible for making sure my mom never ran out of chores
Yes, I had a list of regular chores to do. Most common was taking out the garbage.
I was the weirdo who asked to help. I hated how tired my mother looked at the end of the day. If I helped she had more time with the family.
Absolutely and ended up going to other people’s houses, family, and doing the same thing almost like earning your keep
Some. Washing up, dishwasher, various things around the garden
Yes my aunt would scold me if I didn't do the household chores. Plus we dont have a maid so we do everything by ourselves at home.
It wasn't really help as it was told what to do or suffer the consequences
Nobody gives me any responsibility as I've proven im untrustworthy and unreliable. Much easier life not being called upon to help
Yes but mostly had to focus on studies and saving my life
Yes I did what ever my parents asked. I don’t know how well I did it, but I did it
