Why do we do big family gatherings, does anyone actually like this?

I'm currently cramped in a tiny cramped house with about 19 people I barely know. For like 10 hours.

The only parts I never liked were having to take all my stuff back upstairs because people weren't supposed to know that we ACTUALLY LIVED THERE, everybody leaving by midnight and all the men sitting on their asses watching football all fucking day!! I miss those days as kid, growing up we'd go to my grandma's house for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. We'd have so many people there because my mom is the youngest of 10 so you can imagine just how big these family holiday gatherings were.
