My mom’s name is Betsy and she has hated it her whole life! When she was introduced to my dad, he thought her name was Becky. To this day, he still calls her Becky, which was difficult growing up and still is when we get together. Anyway, she really liked the name and always said if she has a girl, she’s gonna a name her, “Becky”. Enter: Me! 😝 I love my name! Especially the story behind it, how about you? Is there a story behind your name? Are you happy with your name?

we get two names around here... and one of them given to me by my parents is a typical Biblical name, Jonathan... while the other was given to me by my great-grandma who insisted very much on the name Santiago because she said it has more of a presence, and it does sound very well in both English and Spanish

and my mother was very close to my great-grandma as well, we did live at her house too

I actually worked with a guy named, Santiago! He was BIG, intimidating looking and one of the sweetest guys I ever met! The only thing that outweighed his sweetness, was his humor! To this day, he is probably the funniest person I ever met.

Yeah actually:
My great grandfather was friends with the first prime Minister of our country and that man was at his house when his wife was in labor so he named his son (my grandpa) after him.
And i inherited the name

It’s funny you say that, because I found out my old neighbor is on this site and he always calls me Rebecca! I tell him my birth name, on my certificate, is Becky! Of course he doesn’t care. I’m not a huge fan of being called “Rebecca”. My brothers are also named, Thomas, Anthony and Andrew. They go by, Tom, Tony and Andy. I call them by their actual full name because I know it pisses them off!

Kino means ugly, my mom hated me because I was born ugly and not handsome or pretty like my siblings, now I have no evidence that she named me Kino because I was born ugly or if it was just a name my parents thought of and it's just a coincidence that it means ugly.

I can honestly say, I’ve never met a Ryan I haven’t liked. I have a cousin named Ryan, that I adore! We are actually the same age and went to school together until I was 16. He is also very close to my entire family. When I moved to Miami, I worked as a waitress and my shift manager was named Ryan. Being new to a new city, he was such a nice man. I still see him as a second father.

In my family, like another opner’s family, my brothers first names have no real meaning but their middle names do. In fact, my mom wanted a Jr., but my dad hates his first name! So, he gave his second born son his middle name as his first name. My other brother’s have my grandpa’s middle names, which are really pretty. I actually like their first and middle names and would name my son’s, if I ever have any, after some of their names.
