My mom puts me down when Im happy?

Lately is super hard talking to her she seems annoyed and stroppy with me.

I was quite happy to talk to my boyfriend and it was kinda funny how we coudnt get enough and said "ok babe good night talk to you tomorrow"for like 40 mins.

I came up to her all smiley and happy saying "lol mom, Adam won't stop telling me good night for the last half an hour"

And she was like annoyed and goes:"well was he online talking to You at least all this time?"

... hmm. I was like :" ofc he is talking to Me... what?"

She acts like she doesn't wanna listen to me when i talk about him, or tell smth excited we did.

She always has to be negative or act like i talk bullshit or blatanly shuts me down, belittle me or answers with sarcasm.

Man, that really sucks. No one wants to share something they're happy about and have their own mom put them down, y'know?

A few thoughts on it:
- She might be moody or stressed about her own stuff and taking it out on you unfairly.

- Or maybe she's not super comfortable with you dating yet since you're young and wants to be protective.

- It's also possible she's jealous of your relationship somehow if she's lonely or wants your attention.

- Whatever the reason, you don't deserve to have your feelings invalidated like that!

Some things you could try:

- Tell her straight up when she's ruining your mood and ask her to stop. Stand up for yourself.

- Limit sharing too many personal deets with her if she's just gonna be rude.

- Spend more time out with friends so you can talk freely without judgement.

- Call her out calmly if she starts trashing your boyfriend - remind her to be respectful.

Hope it gets better. You should be able to share happy moments without that negativity!

If you are in your 30s, you shouldn't need your mother's approval about boyfriends or anything else. If she doesn't want to hear about it, then don't talk to her about it. Maybe she resents the fact that her cute little baby girl has grown up, which means she's getting old. Does that sound like what's going on?
