I would keep it cool. I would not bring up money. I would be cordial. I do NOT know what has been happening in their life. It is NOT my place to judge. The supposition in this "question" is that the person knows what happens in your life and now knows you have money and wants to be in your good graces because they are a money grubbing piece of shit. See I wouldn't help them at all. My family particularly my sister never once supported me during my pregnancy, even when it was discovered my pregnancy was high risk and my baby may die. Almost a year later and she has made no effort to contact me, not even to ask me how her niece is.

We never once had a falling out or ever argued, so I am seriously baffled as to why she cut me from her life. When she came to me for support with her regrets for leaving the father of her children, I was nothing but supportive and I was there for her.

I don’t expect humans to be fair, I am not upset when they are not. It’s a bit like accepting people as they are and still loving them.

I would ignore them. And I'd also wonder how they found out. In my state, you have the right to choose to remain anonymous and that's exactly what I'd do. I'd only tell a couple close people. Then it'd be pretty easy to narrow it down if someone did rat me out. I wouldn't have anything to do with the person who came out of the wood work. They would only be reaching out for a hand out and that would not fly with me. I have already cut out family members like this. They're the type who won't reach out and never come around UNTIL the holidays where they expect gifts. NOPE. Not giving you gifts when I know that's the only reason you come around. Not how I roll. The sister I saw in my dreams, is the same sister who has ghosted me in real life and never bothered to show any support when my pregnancy was high risk and I was told my baby may die.
