If your kids ask you to turn the music, tv, radio etc down, do you, or do you tell them not to tell you what to do?

they're usually lost in their own sound with the headphones, but yeah... if they do have a valid reason, I can lower it or turn it off entirely

If my kids ask me to turn the music down it depends on what I’m listening to. I will never EVER turn the music down if Van Halen is playing. If they ask me to turn Van Halen down, they will be severely disciplined. I will make them write sentences that say, “I will not ask my dad to turn down Van Halen.” At least 100 times. Then, they will spend the rest of the night in their room while I blast Eddie’s guitar music as loud as I can.

Now the TV is a different story. My future wife and I will probably be watching TV together and my kids are not supposed to parent the parents.

As far as that particular situation, depends. Someone could be sick or it could hurt their ears, especially if they’re young. I doubt this scenario presents itself, more than likely it will be kids blaring music that may need discipline.

If someone asks me to turn down the volume, I usually comply, no matter who is asking ,,, unless the volume is already so low that I can barely hear it.

Don't have kids, but if I did, it would depend on the reason they were asking. If it was so they could study for classes, ok fair enough, I'd turn it down some. If was for them to talk on the phone or play some game, no take it somewhere else.

I don't have any kids. Now if I'm playing my music too loud, and someone asks me nicely to turn it down I will, but I usually try to play it at nice decibel. Same with the TV

I would certainly lower the volume, unless of course their screaming, and arguing are the reason for the volume increase :-)

if they told me 'turn it down' i'd correct them and tell them its 'can you turn that down {please optional}'. theyd ask again correctly, and then i would definitely turn it down.
