nope, not rude at all. it's rude for her to eat all of the food when it's meant for multiple people
No way, you definitely weren't rude for telling her that. Here's why:
- It was your nephew's birthday party. That means your main priority should be making sure the guest of honor and his family have plenty of food.
- Your visitor has a habit of overeating by the sounds of it. Nothing wrong with enjoying food, but you gotta make sure there's enough for everyone sharing the meal.
- You gave her a completely reasonable request to save some for your sister and her family who were still coming over. That's just being considerate of others.
- If she eats it all before they arrive, then there won't be anything left for your actual family. That's just greedy and rude behavior on her part.
- Your tone sounded polite but firm. Sometimes people need direct communication to understand they're taking too much themselves.
- You didn't call her out aggressively or embarrass her in front of others. Just kindly but clearly set an appropriate boundary, no big deal.
So nah, far from rude. You handled that perfectly respectfully while still asserting your completely valid point. Don't stress it - you did the right thing here for sure.
I don't think that was rude at all. You just wanted to make sure there was enough for your other guests. Nothing wrong with that.
